    Hey, my first post :)

Just wondering if anyone here is going to this tournament on sunday may 14th. I'm not good enough for the OFSAA championships, but me and my partner are one of the top teams in the western high-school district of Toronto. Seems like this tournament could have potential for great competition .

See the attached flyer for more info.

I will be going there in mixed. I am from Bishop Allen (open mens singles - tdcaa west) but i didn't make it to OFSAA unfortunately, so I will be playing mixed with a friend of mine from the Bishop Allen Badminton team. Seems like it will be a fun tournament, and will be an adventure for somebody like me who has never played doubles in a tournament. Hopefully I see some familiar faces from Tdcaa there.

also... i don't know if anybody knows, is it nylon shuttles (i assume so)? or feather for A flight, and nylon for the other flights? or just feather?

Here's a shout to those "older people" playing at unofsaa. Don't purposely go down to flight B, C or D. Or you guys will look bad. I'm gonna play doubles with LUK. We both have MP99's so we'll be called "The 99's" LoL. I hope there arn't like a million ppl playing boys doubles at unofsaa... or we'll hafta wait a long time. I would go mix but they said it won't end b4 10 p.m.... thats krazy... i hafta spend time with my mom cuz its mothers day. Peace.

I'm planning to play girls doubles! My partner got 4th at CWOSSA for mixed, but I sucked in singles. :p So I'm stealing her and playing some doubles. Never been to UnOFSAA before. What's the competition like generally?

I'll see what I play, but most likely boys doubles only. I'll be wielding a MP100 with a weird arrow logo on the strings if you want to identify me.

And I'll be the one with the orange Yonex Armortec 800 with long hair playing boy's doubles. ... Well, probably.

Question about dress code... Does it have to be all white? Or can I just wear white t-shirt with black shorts?

The flyer says you have to wear 90% white soo I don't think they'd let you wear black shorts.

If i am not mistaken, it says 90% White or Solid colour clothing.

To be sure though, I will make a phone call.

Yeah, that's what had me confused...

Also, are they supposed to contact you to tell you if you're in the tournament, or do you just have to hope the form mailed to the right person?

Hmm, I don't think they would contact everyone who signed up, so you can only sit and wait, I suppose. I haven't gotten a call or gotten contacted anyway.

    Well here's how it goes.
You show up, they make you play two games/matches (they might make it so you have to win 2/3 games against your opponents, or just one game of 21).

If you win both of them, you play in the A division.
If you win the first one, lose the second, you play in the B division.
If you lose the first one, win the second, you play in the C division.
If you lose both, you play in the D division.

According to how your two games go, you play in the division that you are assigned. If you lose your first match in your division, you are eliminated.

That's why you're guaranteed 3 matches, you play your first two, then the third one that decides if you move on or not.

So, what's the difference between A-D flights? Simply put, the best people go to the A division, while the worst go to the D division. You don't get to pick which division you are in, the games decide, so you can't "sign up" for a division.

    Good luck.

Yes, once you're set in your flight, when you lose a match, you are out. So it is single-elimination from the point when your flight is chosen.

you can't stop people from trying to lose purposely to go to D flight for an easier win though.
