Sebenarnya Yoyogi No. 2 National Gymnasium adalah pusat bulutangkis Jepang, tapi kapasitasnya hanya 3.300 penonton.

Here is the ENglish translation

For Thomas Cup

Of the 10 players of Indonesian TC squad, Chandra W and Taufik Hidayat are the players who have played 5 times consecutively since 1998.

While both players are ready to bring back the TC, what about the host team ?

Taufik and his team mates have a strong ambition to bring the TC, lost in 2004, home. Despite being in the process of recovery from his waist injury, Taufik has expressed his strong committment to play for the Indonesian team in the TC. Upon receiving an Indonesian Sport Award as the best Indonesian athlete, Friday (14/4), Taufik sought support and pray from Indonesian communities.

Like Taufik, Chandra also felt the glory of winning the TC in 1998, 2000, and 2002. This year TC will be very important for him as the father of 2 children has decided to resign as a national badminton player after the TC .

“The time has arrived. Winning or losing is common. My friends and I will do our best to bring back the TC," he said after expressing his plan to resign. His confidence must be treated seriously as his pair, Sigit Budiarto, not selected in the 2004 TC team, has been selected by PBSI to pair with him. Sigit defeated Flandy Limpele, who has sustained hamstring injury .

Alvent Yulianto has also a personal ambition to pay back his failure 2 years ago and said " It's alright we did not win in the Asian Championship, what is most important to me is to bring back the TC .”

Looking at the list of players in action released by IBF on Saturday (15/4), there is almost no surprise, except Malaysia's brave decision to include Tan Boon Heong, the world's 38th ranked pairs, in the team, who set aside Thien Hoon How, Moh Tazari Fairuzizuan/Lin Woon Fui (rank 10), Gan Teik Chai/Abdul Latif Mohd Zakry (11), and Tan Bin Shen/Ong Soon Hock (29).

Wind and Dazzling Lighting
The strong windblow and dazzling lighting in the stadium, particularly in Tokyo Metropolitan Gymnasium, have become two major concerns for the host country. The condition of the stadium, also hosting the final round of the TC and UB in 1990, has the potential to invite protests from other participating countries.

However, Park Joo-bong, Chief Coach of Japan, did not see them as problems.

“It is no problem at all. If we compare it with the condition of the stadium where the last World Championship was held in Anaheim, USA, which was more disturbing. ”

The same opinion was expressed by Japanese players, Shoji Sato and Keita Masuda, “It is no problem at all as it is not worse than Anaheim.”

“The wind rotation like this is a normal thing ,” added Kanako Yonekura, member of the Japanese UC team .

ACtually Yoyogi No. 2 National Gymnasium is the center of Badminton in Japan, but it only has a capacity of 3.300 seats. IBF requires a stadium to have a capacity of 10.000 seats.

Well....maybe Park Jo Bong does not care either because he knows the chances Japan advances to final is slim....so bad lighting, wind blowing....might be good to turn the results around : )
