THOMAS Cup squad Team A will take on Team B in a friendly match at the Bumiputera Associaion Hall in Kuching tomorrow to assess each players performance before the squad leave for Japan on Sunday.

The match, which culminates a fruitful final phase of training, give the coaches a good opportunity to assess and monitor each player.

Team A will comprise of Lee Chong Wei, Kuan Beng Hong and doubles pairs Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah and Chew Choon Eng-Tan Boon Heong. Roslin Hasim will be the non-Thomas Cup player in the team.

Wong Choong Hann will lead Team B which will also have Hafiz Hashim and doubles pair Chan Chong Ming-Koo Kien Keat while their non-Thomas Cup players are Yeoh Kay Bin and Gan Teik Chai-Zakry Latif.

National chief coach Yap Kim Hock said the match will be a good avenue to test the ability of debutant Boon Heong and the players who have not been doing too well in international events.

"The match will give us a good indication of the condition of our players and their temperament at the moment," said Kim Hock.

"I would like to see how Boon Heong fares as he will be playing in a major event for the first time.

Local fans who turn for the match will be entertained by the day’s key match — Chong Wei against Hafiz — in the first singles. Another close match is expected between Tan Fook-Wan Wah and Chong Ming-Kien Keat.

The match starts at 6.0pm tomorrow.

Match-ups (Team A names mentioned first): Lee Chong Wei v Hafiz Hashim, Kuan Beng Hong v Wong Choong Hann, Roslin Hashim v Yeoh Kay Bin, Choong Tan Fook-Lee Wan Wah v Chan Chong Ming-Koo Kien Keat, Chew Choon Eng-Tan Boon Heong v Gan Teik Chai-Zakry Latif.
