To LilyC, I would like Chiranthi M to be my partner for this friday. Is there anyway to contact her through email?
If worse comes to worse, I guess we all need to be there 7:45pm. Can't wait to see the look of people's face if they have
a) not read the focum
b) not been back with CCC for the last 4 weeks or so

VIRUS SCARE(11-July-2006)... BE WARNED
VIRUS SCARE... BE WARNED!!!
I have just received a warning from a friend. Don't know if it is true.The warning is given below;
Emails with pictures of Osama Bin-Laden hanged are being sent and the moment that you open these emails your computer will crash and you will not be able to fix it!
This e-mail is being distributed through countries around the globe, but mainly in the US and Israel.
If you get an email along the lines of "Osama Bin Laden Captured" or "Osama Hanged" don't open the attachment.
Hope it is not true.

Player required for Mixed Doubles Partnership with Kung-LinHi everyone@ccc,
I just remember that if I was to partner LilyC in the Mixed Doubles this Friday, 14-Jul-2006, then LilyC's regular female partner/friend, Kung-Lin, will require another partner.
May be some member might like to organise, ASAP, to arrange to form a partnership with Kung-Lin for this Friday.
Because Kung-Lin has not applied for CCC Membership as yet, I do not have her contact information.
May be LilyC can help Kung-Lin to form a Mixed Doubles partnership via this thead.

Waiting for an answer...Originally Posted by chris@ccc
Hi Chris@CCC and everyone else!
Thanks for remembering to find a partner for Kung-Lin ... but when we were having dinner last friday, she told me it would "probably" be her last session with us before Uni starts again.
Since she used the word "probably", I called her just now to see if she has changed her mind about whether to join us or not this Friday - she didn't answer the mobile and I tried her home number as well, but she was out and will be home around 9:30.
When I get an answer from her later tonight, I'll post a new message asap.

Hi yschin & Fuji, I just found out that my colleague, after watching the WC Final, the next morning he also headbutted his car to his neighbour fence due to fatigue. This WC is costing too much money for some people.
yschin : you also just lost your mixed double partner (Chiranthi M) to hkhung. You can blame Chris for this.
Chris : care to tell us what shuttle are we going to use this Friday. I was browsing through some badminton blogs and found pictures of your student, Jacqui, playing in Nunawading Rec. on Saturday. One of the players also opened a Sport shop in Mount Waverley. I think that guy is from HK cos he has RSL banners all over the shop. Maybe we can get some cheap RSL shuttles off him.

Kung-Lin won't be coming on Friday!

Hi everyone, looks like our mixed doubles for this Friday is in turmoil. After we started talking about it, our female members seem to decide to give it a miss like LilyC's partner. I wonder if we are going to end up with only LilyC this Friday. Maybe we should keep it low profile next time.

Yes, Jacqui, a very keen Badminton player, recently started playing at Nunawading. In fact, Jacqui plays many times a week and at different places. And I know many players who play at Nunawading too.
And yes, I know Kobeng well. He opened a shop in Mt Waverley. Kobeng is the official RSL Shuttles supplier in Melbourne. In fact, Jason-F buys his club's shuttles from Kobeng. Jason-F can tell you the costs of the RSL shuttles. Check with him this Friday @SUPPERTIME.
Also don't worry about your suggestion for the Mixed Doubles in turmoil. Our CCC Handicapped System is designed to be suitable for different types of combinations to be played. We can play 2 Men Vs 2 Men, or Vs 2 Ladies, or Vs a Mixed Doubles combination, or even a Solo Singles player. We can play all different sorts of combinations. Because of the Handicap Points, weaknesses and strenghts are supposed to be ironed out.
And don't forget to tell your friends about this link; http://www.badmintoncentral.com/foru...ad.php?t=34473

BadFever, with respect to what you said about our mixed double scenario, you never know. 2 weeks ago, there were 5 non-member came in (none were girls) to our firday night social to prepare for their sat day comp. Then again, there might be new female player coming in and they might not want to join us for our competition.
As France will tell you after the world cup, it's not all doom and gloom. So until all of our female player don't show up or taken this friday (for our world cup analogy, please replace "this friday" with "extra time"), i ain't giving up!
Thanks again to Chris for calming our nerves with all the possible scenarios!

hkhung, I am happy whichever way we play. Worse come to worse, I know I have you as my single sparring partner.

BadFever, yeah man, eventhough i lose i like single more cos i like running. Also single is about shot placement not pace of the game so you are more game to try new shots as they are punished heavily in double.
Funny enough, i have realise the better you are as a double player, you run+sweat more. For his size, the chinese mix double player Zhang Jin might be an exception of this though!
So at the end of our session, we can look at some people who is very tired
, and tell them "man, you must be crap!"

Singles not a pace game you say? I think I will argue that one. In doubles you barely have to move providing both partner know to cover their area on the court.
Shot placement in singles is important but the pace of the game matters a lot. Playing a fast player, you have to either keep the same pace or play opposite and play a slow game. This means to absorb their attacks and rally it around.
For example when playing someone like Chris who uses a lot of deceptive shot and net shot, I play a fast game to keep him out of the position he likes to be set up to perform his favourite shots. By a fast game, I mean fast clears, smashes, drives. If you go for a slow game with drops and slices and high clears it would suit his game much more. (Chris can explain this better than me)
To beat someone playing a fast game, you actually don't have to try as hard because usually you know exactly where the shuttle is going (at your feet), so you can block it, flick it to the other side of court and eventually they will tire or make more errors.

Female players dropping
Gee all this mixed double talk scare away the girls? I have never heard of university beginning as an excuse not to play badminton! When I was studying at uni, I was in the universary badminton club, the uni team AND played a lot outside at other clubs
Hmmm however this is a big problem even for outside CCC. I am going in the VIC Graded tournament in a few weeks time and have had to put "partner required" on C and B grades My partner at the Kilsyth tournament has a bad back and can't play tournament for a while My partner before that where we won the last two tournaments in B grade went back to Denmark
As a mixed specialist this can get frustrating always trying to find a good female partner because there are not many players at that level at all. I was shocked at the Kilsyth tournament where A grade mens singles was the only event for A grade.

Robbo77, i ain't meaning you don't have do running for single. It's just a slower game than doubles that's all. So the "pace" is much slower than the double and bad quality are not punished.
With respect to finding a females for mixed partner, i been around to a lot of different clubs and i can tell you how many female player there are. About 2 out of 10. In your case, then you gonna try to get the ones that are serious so you can get into a competition with them.
Well i guess we could encourage more female player coming. We could start by stop smashing them hard. In my case, i would have to stop using DAP.
To be fair, some people just have different priority. And some people like myself want to put badminton in front of everything. My dip ed (primary) course was relaxing till the end and i didn't want to do excercise when i am tired. So i had one week no excercise.
Hell, if i start a new job, i might even have to stop everything else again.
