To start Friendly Matches against other Clubs from August 2006Originally Posted by chris@ccc
As from POST#123, I said we will start playing Friendly Matches against other Clubs in August.
We will start playing against a weaker Club to begin with.
So, from our CCC Handicapped Competition Results, these players will have a chance to participate in our first Inter-Club Match;
Our friendly opponents will be Highvale, Glen Waverley.I have informed them about it, and they will reply/confirm soon.
Details of Match;When........Friday, 11-Aug-2006, 8:00pm – 10:30pmWhere......CCC@Glen Waverley (our own home ground)Events......Doubles only
On that night, we will allocate ONE COURT for our Friendly Match.
Out of the names of players listed above, you will need to nominate a Team Captain first. And then, just the Team Captain needs to communicate with me.
Please start talking about this amongst yourselves.

CCC members to join the BadmintonCentral ForumCCC members to join the BadmintonCentra
I just realised that out of our 24 CCC members, only 13 have joined the BadmintonCentral Forum.
They are as listed here;
This causes some certain inefficiencies for our CCC communication.
And because of this, I have to email to each of the non-BadmintonCentral members separately whenever we have news/notices to be given out.
It is our intention to use the BadmintonCentral Forum as our CCC Notice Board.
So, I do urge the following members to become members of our CCC's thread @BadmintonCentral ASAP.
What I am concerned here is the notice about our Friendly Match on Friday 11-August-2006, referring to POST#392.
Is it because there is no interest in playing this Friendly Match that we get no response?
Or, is it because the members selected to play in this match do not want to participate in it?

Since they are not responding, I propose we pick the regulars then. We have 4 double pairs. Good luck to them.

Hi Chris@CCC and everyone else!
I saw your post about the inter-club match last night, but i didn't reply you because I thought that I'd give others who are also on the list to have a say before I put down anything as a reply. We did not mean to ignore its presence. I'm happy to be part of the inter-club match!!!
Personally, I'd say Chiranthi's usual partner (is it Ken? not sure...) - he would be a good person to be the captain for us.. OR... Bill.
I think they are the more experienced players on the list. (No offence to others who are also good on the list - the reason why i didn't mention you is probably i don't know your name. e.g. I didn't know there's a Danny. oops~)
What do you all think?
To badfever: I can't be the captain! I'm not good enough la~
07-24-2006, 07:55 PM #397
Oh man, i love the interclub matches! I get to growl at bad shots! We should really try to make some fake medals this time!
To LilyC, as on 10/7 Bill said that he won't come to badminton at the moment because of ski. Also, i think Chris might needed to be excluded for interclub since he is too good, so you might need to find a new partner. Don't worry we still have two weeks to do it.
With respect to the captain thing, I am more experienced in the CCC handicap system + scheduling. I do have a lot of time at the moment to organize things though. So i am happy to do it but i honestly think you can have a go at it.
To BadFever, Tyler has been missing for the last 2 weeks so you might want to ask him next time whether he is interested in competition. He is a member though so i presume he would come back. But then again, he could be "Kenneth no.2 - the missing member". Wonder where does Chris get these people?
To Chris, while you said that the interclub is starting with a weaker club.
Do you think it's better to talk about people in terms of pairs cos some of us have regular partners for organization purpose? So in those situations, we only need one of them to be contacted and they contact their partner.
For those of us who want to participate interclub competition, regular partnership would be another thing we gonna to encourage in the next two weeks then.

2006 Central Graded Tournament
Hi Chris and everyone@ccc,
just read this info from Badminton Victoria website. Central Badminton Association will held it's annual graded tournament on the 26th Aug at MSAC. It will be graded from A to D and here's the link for the application form.
The deadline for entry is next Friday (4th Aug). I am thinking about joining in Doubles (if i can find a partner) and possibly Singles. Anyone interested in being my partner? but I am not sure what grade I should join? C or D?? any advise on that, Chris? Thanks in advance.

I received some info about the Victorian International (28-30 July, 2006) @MSAC
Please read POST#48 of this link http://www.badmintoncentral.com/foru...ad.php?t=34473
To andrewlyw: I will talk to you about your entries in the Central Badminton Tournament this Friday. I don't have much time for typing a post at the moment, TOO MANY THINGS I AM INVOLVED IN AT THE MOMENT.
To LilyC and hkhung: Because I don't have time at the moment, I will also talk to you both this Friday about the captaincy of our Inter-Club Match.

I was at the Melbourne City Open tournament in Kilsyth as a spectator recently. If that can be of any guide, you should enjoy yourself better playing in C than D. You might even be able to put up some good games in B grade. If I am not wrong , you can play B singles and C doubles or vice versa.
Central Badminton Assoc could be different. i think Chris is the best person to advise you.

Hi Chris: So glad to note that your organized activities are going on so well and on a regular basis. It must have brought a lot of joy and good exercise for all who participated. I hope your inter-club friendlies will be a success too!
Just a few questions to help me understand your group's activities better. I know you have said CCC is for China, China, China but apart from the IBF Grand Prix events, does CCC also mean Chris Coaching Club (Clinic)?
How does your CCC Handicapped Competition system work? In your post #384 some account of this was given but it was not too clear to me. For example I see -8 for Kevin -C and also -8 for Kim - F. I guess because they are partners the team members each received -8 handicap. But does it mean because they are so good that they have to give away 8 points every time they compete. If they played against a team with -4 and another team with + 4, how many points will Kevin and Kim have to give away? 4 and 12 points? What is the maximum handicap either way?
What about Peter's Magnetic Board. Is it just a device to display the competitors' particulars with the help of magnets according to their current ranking/standing? It isn't like the Ladder Board that we commonly know, is it? As you would probably know, the Ladder shows the position of the players according to their current performance. Those ranked directly below the immediate player or team have the privilege to challenge those directly above them. For example player/team ranked 2 can challenge player/team ranked 1 or team 10 can challenge team 9. I don't suppose we are talking about the Ladder Board.

What does CCC stand for?Originally Posted by Loh
It's good to get your post from Singapore again.
CCC Badminton was set up 3 years ago along with the Chinese Community at Box Hill, Mebourne. They were (and still are) playing there at Box Hill, under the name of Chinese Table Tennis Association. So to make a partnership with them, I thought it would be appropriate to give our Badminton section a seperate name, rather than to play under their banner name of Chinese Table Tennis Association.
So, out came with the name, CCC Badminton = Chinese Community Club for Badminton.
But, when trainees come to train at CCC Badminton, they call it Chris' Coaching Club. And, when they play in our CCC Handicapped Badminton, they call it Chris' Challenge Competition. Then, when parents employ me to coach their younger children, they call it Child Care Centre.
Most of our members wish to find a sponsor for CCC. We even attended an Indian restaurant here in Richmond, a suburb of Melbourne. The restaurant's name is CCC = Curry Club Cafe. Unfortunately, the restaurant's boss said he could not sponsor us.
Some of us even dream of finding a bigger corporate sponsor, so that we can call our CCC Competition the Coca Cola Classics or the Crown Casino Classics.
At Xmas time, it even changes to Chris' Christmas Celebration.
Now that CCC is playing at many different Badminton venues, it is incredibly funny that whenever any unclaimed clothing items are found missing or left behind, people say to give it to CCC Badminton.
They think that CCC = Clothes Collection Club.
Personally, when I play at CCC Badminton, I tell people that I am playing Cool, Calm and Collected Badminton.
Regarding to your questions about our CCC Handicapped Competition and the Magnetic Board System, I will try to answer them in a few days' time.
07-26-2006, 07:45 AM #406
Wow Chris! Never knew that the letter 'C' is so useful, funny and flexible. Hope that your Crown Casino Classics will become a reality and the casino will be your first generous sponsor.
I'm sure although the original intention is to get the Chinese community at Box Hill into action, your CCC is now open to badminton enthusiasts of all races.
Will await further comments from you to my other queries.
