So the problem is: not everybody can digest this sort of stuff. so I was wondering if anybody of you know a yonex or babolat reference-racket for any of these rackets. for people to get a small idea of how it plays. I know it's a hard/impossible question. and if it is then just make it a ncie topic to discuss sotx. -jerry
ok who agrees/disagrees with this: w-2: at700 3u w-4/7/11: like ti-10 (2U) w-8: like mp99 (less stiff though, still allround) w-9: at700? (4U) w-5: nanospeed 7/8 ? stb 8080+: Cab X? *DISCLAIMER: I know sotx doesn't do cloning, I know every single 'statement' I made in this post is ver very thin. But this just needs to be very general. so does anybody (dis)agree with the above? anybody can think of the others?
Hey Jerby, I'd say that your comparisons are pretty close to my own experiences. The Woven 12 or 12SE is even more like the MP99 than the Woven 8/8a in my opinion. And the W-9 is not like a 700, it's closer to the AT800 in my opinion. You're definately not the first to mention that the 8 is a lot like an MP99 though, I hear that from people a lot. W-11 being like a Ti-10 is also a good comparison... the difference between the W-11 and the 7, in my opinion, is that though on the official SOTX indexes they are rated with the same stiffness I think, the 11 is actually significantly stiffer than the 7... looking at your chart you've noticed this though from personal experience, or perhaps the denmark SOTX site is more updated than the documentation I have. Can't really say how the STB compares with Cabs though, though I've never really used any cabs except the 30MS. I mean, aside from the fact that they're both oval head.
Out of all the cabs that I used / demoed (8, 9, 10Tour, 15, 20, 23, 25sp, 20ms, 30ms), I can hardly put STB8080+ to be close to anyone of them. The old cabs are generall in 2u range, while the 8080+ is 3/4u. The newer cabs are either long or stiff, or both. I will say STB8080+ is in a totally category than Yonex cab. 8080+ is very light, and only mid stiff, which makes it a great defensive racket, especially if close to the net. I believe STOX ad. 8080+ as a prefered choice for female or physically weaker players.
i recently got my woven-4a. I have to say that it's not an extra-stiff racket. I hv mp-99, cab21sp and 4a is certainly stiffer than that. But not stiffer than Carlton Airblade Rasmussen Tour... this racket is so stiff... hfff... my upper arm starts hurting if I keep smashing with this carlton one... i love the feel of woven-4a... it's not very heavy overall but is head heavy which makes it suitable for smashing...

I had and hit the 11, good racket. Feels different than the Woven series. Hard to say exactly what but definitely a different feel.
Nanospeed 7000 I'm going to buy my girlfriend a new racket on her birthday. She currently plays with a Carlton Airblade Lite, which is 85g pretty headlight and stiff. She allready tested a Nanospeed 7000, which she really liked. (hence this: It actually felt heavier to her than her Airblade). While looking for other rackets that she may like, I came across SOTX. From what I hear, their rackets are damn good. And I'm also pretty charmed by the fact that they use and devolop their own technologies, while many other brands simply copy yonex's. The only problem is, we can't try out any SOTXes here... Within the SOTX line there are basically 2 options: Woven 6 and Woven 5. I was most interested by the 6, simply because it has the woven technology (quite strange the 5 doesn't seem to have it.) and there are more experiences with it. The one thing I miss, is a direct comparison with a nanospeed 7000. So, anybody who can give my that comparison in term of quickness, stiffness, etc?? Price wise SOTX wins it hands down... I can almost buy 2 Woven 6 for her, for about the price of 1 nanospeed 7000. Plus: while the nanos seem to be very fragile, the Wovens seem te be bullet proof (but we're not going to test that )
Between the Woven 6 and NS7000, for a girl, I would go with the Woven 6. For a guy, NS7000. The Woven 6 is lighter and has a stronger frame. The Woven 6 is a tad bit more maneuverable and a tad bit stiffer but also generates less power. The NS7000 has better defense.
