drop shots are when you are at the back of the court and tip the birdy as tight as possible to the net...net shots are when u r at the net..

Ok its very hard to teach someone to do a shot online with words, actions make things alot easier. Sure i can describe how to do the drop shot but would you get what im trying to say? and would you know if you are doing it right? get a coach or someone who knows how to play to teach you in real life. First hand experience and practice is always better than asking than following instructions. There are many ways and forms for the drop shot. Some ppl slice it and some ppl tap it... it'll take way too many words to teach someone a shot completely. Go get someone in person to help, its much more effective.
The whole point of a drop shot is that it should look just like a smash or a clear put behave totally differently. So you set up and execute just like you would a smash but after your backswing slow down your forward arm swing. That's the theory. It takes a lot of practice. Yes, some people master the art of slicing drops and that keeps up the deception a split second longer because the opponent can't see that it's a drop from your swing because your arm doesn't slow down. However slicing is low percentage and it's very difficult to master. Try the simple method first, by all means. In Korea, they call net shots hairpins (in English) because the shape of the shuttle's trajectory viewed from the side (nearly straight up and straight down) ressembles that of a bobby-pin. As hahahalol pointed out, you make a net shot when you are at the net.
