I remember the first time I saw it was long time ago when there was a Japanese tv drama talking about female Japanese volleyball players. Since then that sign was very popular.

Ahh not true.
Asians everywhere are into it. Just look at the recent photos of the Chinese team!
My relatives in Asia do it. And they live neither in China or Japan.
Asians in North America do it, but it might only be where a large population of them are. I don't know. Here in North America I think it's considered sort of dorky but there's many variations of it. i.e., poking the cheek, etc. Personally, I don't find it very attractive but maybe because I'm female

Does anyone notice that Lindan uses a strange wrapped grip?. The lower part of the grip is wrapped with towel whereas the upper is unwrapped (u can see the wood).

hahaha.. i use to show tat v sign when i'm taking picture too.. i'm an asian girl, and i remember i started doing tat sign when... can't remember.. just think tat the the sign make me look more *cute*... LOL
