Day 8 : Uber CUp Final : CHINA vs THE NETHERLANDS

Okay....I want to start this thread..

CHINA vs THE NETHERLANDS in the 2006 Uber cup final..
This is the first time for The Netherlands to go to final. This is a great achievement. I remembered that in 2002, they went through the Semifinal. So, this is a better one.

My prediction line up will be :

    1. Zhang Ning vs Mia Audina Tjiptawan
    2. Xie Xingfang vs Judith Meulendijks
    3. Jiang Yanjiao vs Karina de Wit
    4. Gao Ling/Huang Sui vs Mia Audina Tjiptawan/Judith Meulendijks
    5. Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen vs Karina de Wit/Ginny Severin

My prediction for the result is :

    1. Zhang Ning vs Mia Audina
Zhang Ning is on the top form now. I hope Mia could also show her best. This should be an interesting match. I think this is kind of repetition of 1994 UC Final between China and Indonesia. The difference is at that time Mia was representing Indonesia and became the hero. Now, Mia is representing the Netherlands. Could she be the hero again. Well, it is pretty hard or a mission impossible for The Netherlands to beat China. But at least Mia might make difficulties to Zhang Ning and let's hope that she could give one point for The Netherlands.

    2. Xie Xingfang vs Judith Meulendijks
The current world champion and 2 times All England champion will win. I still hope at least Judith could make the match interesting like what Juliane Schenk did. Don't easily give up. Let us hope that Judith give her best all the way she can. She is doing quite well in this UC Final.

    3. Jiang Yanjiao vs Karina de Wit
Karina performes well in this UC Final Round as well as Jiang Yanjiao.
I think Jiang will win this match. I hope Karina will also give her best

    4. Gao Ling/Huang Sui vs Mia Audina Tjiptawan/Judith Meulendijks
The 6 times All England champion will win. If this match will be played, Let us hope that Mia/Judith still can do their best, since it will be tired for them for playing 2 matches.

    5. Yang Wei/Zhang Jiewen vs Karina de Wit/Ginny Severin
This match seems not going to be played. China will already win before this match. Well, if there is a surprise, means China lost 2 points, this match will definitely go to China.

So, no matter what, China will retain the UC for 5 consecutive times. This makes them the 10 times cup holder.
Just hope that The Netherlands could steal 1 point at least.

So, my final prediction 3-0 or 3-1 for China.

I think it is possible for Mia to win as 21 point rally seems to favor

shot-makers. Like Mia said, if you're not strong then play smart,

it is possible under the new system.

Lee CW demonstrated it against Korea and Lin Dan is still

trying to work out how to pace himself over 3 games.

Why issit that women's game is dominated by CHN?? In the men's game, at least it is very interesting as 4 or 5 countries can challenge seriouslly for the cup.

Mia used to be very good. I have watched her played in Uber cup when she was still "Skinny" or rather "FIT". sadly, she is no longer the Mia of her golden days. she has to put down weight b4 she can beat Zhang Ning again. as for this Uber cup final, i don't think she can steal a point from ZN.

Well it will be a miracle if China didn't win the Uber Cup.

Mia's biggest problem was stamina, and the old 15 point system surely working against her in a long match. A good proof is the Olympics game, as she took 1st set, and only to lose the next 2 and gave the gold to ZN.

With the new 21 point system, Mia does not have to face the problem (however, she still needs to play WD, only if she still have a chance to play). She also possibly has the mental edge in the match, even after 12 years. Of course, ZN is no more the little girl who collapses at the biggest stage. With all the success she gain over the past few years, I am sure she's all ready to take a big revenage.

The match between Mia & Cheng Shao Chieh is a must see.

Both were trading fine shots and moving each other all over the court.

However Mia was having stamina problems even now, Cheng tried to extend the rallies but Mia prefered to shorten them , make some fine shots but also many errors in the process.

Therein lies the key how to polish of Mia in the new system.

hehehe, if that happens(which i don't think it'll happen), then CHN should disband their UBER team and close out their national training center..Then have all their current players(WS and WD) move out from CHN and go to Netherlands and play for them..;) :)

Well i agree with peace , Mia is able to take a point. she beat zhang ning many times, she just have to give her best tomorow, but it's absolutely not impossible. Don't forget that she's twice Olympic silver medallist, there is no player that she can't beat. So In my opinion she could be a hero another time ...

come on guys, dun waste your time...for CHN vs. Netherland, a relevant prediction should be around how many minutes all three matches last. 180 mins? or 200 mins? We all know the result is gonna be a sweep...CHN win the title 3:0.

Thats why Netherland already make a very high accomplishment by marching in final. Not even when Denmark had Camilla Martin and Rikke Olsen, the Danes girls able to marched into final.

For more than 20 years in Uber history, this is the first European team that play in the final.

The strategy to avoid China in SF and meet Japan in QF work brilliantly.
