    Default Used Rackets, Problem?

My friend sold me this racket a couple weeks ago..

and he said he had used it for 5 years...Theres literally an uncountable number of chips and scratches on it..Is using an old racket a problem?

if the chips and scratches are just on the paintwork then there should be no problem.

    have you used the racket?

Yeah I've used this racket for a month now with no problems..Im just scared that the frame might break somehow, just because its old..do you think so? cuz you know, its gonna die eventually.

if the racket is in ok condition it could last you many more years. you cant guesstimated how long a racket will last, racket breakages can be caused by many things(clashes/mistreatment, bad stringing, heavy use are a few reasons).
Many members here have rackets they have had for many years, i have one of my first rackets i ever owned and it still plays like new. i dont use it as my game has progressed but i still let friends borrow it if they want to play.

if you play worrying about your racket then it will most likely effect your game.

Well, the older the racket the more brittle it will be... especially if you don't keep it well (in car boot etc)...so yes, all things being equal it is more likely to break that a brand new one...

But don't worry too much - I still have my Prince racket from the late 80's and its being used by my friend now..

Anyway, if it dies - time for a new racket!
