Congratulation to Saina.
Sung was too obsessed in moving Saina around the court and made all kind of mistakes.
Saina looked slow and lethargic, she obviously has not recovered from her match with WSX.
I think LXR is the firm favorite tomorrow unless Saina recovers in time.

Dammit, I was sound asleep when history was being created by young Saina! Congratulations!!!

What I love most about the Saina of the past 2 tournaments is that she let her racquet do all the talking, and along the way, accounted for some of her most feared opponents. She did it the hard way. She played a slew of 3-game matches, including almost all at the IO PSS (the only straight win was the SF over SJH) and showed huge, huge resilience and mental tenacity.

This will only help her. She has shown once again that she is the one the strong Chinese contingent have to beat at any big tournament. It also underscores why many biased people are so vociferous in their bashing of Saina in particular, and Indian players in general: they sense the danger to Chinese dominance (if not now, then soon enough) and want to quash it in any way possible.

What is there to not be proud of? Go, Saina!!!

True that!!!! Saina may not be a naturally talented like WY,WSX or IR but she more than makes up for it by having greater will power, determination and never say die spirit!!!!

Kudos to Saina Nehwal for winning her 3^rd Indonesian Badminton Open WS title.
She was 2 points from defeat in the 2^nd game at 18-20 and therefore the match, against Li Xue Rui but she fought grittily to win that game and turned the tide, winning the match in 1:05 hours.
Prior to her match against LXR, she was in court for 4:20 hours grinding out 3 three match and 1 two match wins. The week earlier, she was in Thailand playing 5 matches and winning the Thai title.
By contrast LXR only spent 2:49 hours in court and was the fresher of the two and the commentator was of the view that SN could tire out and this was very evident in the 1^st game where LXR won 21-13.
Saina had the crowd support and in her post-match interview, she thanked them and said she loved playing in Indonesia and would come back next year.

But the fact that Tine and Juliane are aging is worrisome... Their retirement can come any time after OG leaving Saina alone.. But Ji Hyun is coming up the ranks after beating WX and WY. Inthanon has not shown us that capability yet, she has to pull herself together. The modus operandi of the Chinese sisters is to clear out the field for one and another try to keep themselves above the rest in the rankings. The people we can really count on, after the departure of Tine and Juliane, are Bae Yoon Joo, Inthanon, Porntip, Sapisree, Ji hyun. They have to up their level to put up some resistance to the Chinese dominance..

This win by Saina will do a world of good to promote the sport in India in particular. Nothing against the Chinese but we need good players from all around the world to spice things up.

I predict in 2 to 3 years time, we will see Thai players up there also fighting to win tournaments. Mal, Den, Eng need to buck up big time, Indonesia also to a certain degree.

Thailand girls need better coaches to move up the ladder faster.
