Hi all, I've just bought a NS8000 and I want to string it for the first time. I played with BG65 @ 25lbs / AT500. Now I would like to keep the same tension with my new racquet. But I heard that it is better to put a low tension (22lbs???) for the first time stringing. Is it right? Thank you for your answers.
Hmm, never heard about that before. In general, new racket need not be strung at low tension for the first time. However, it is better to string it within the manufacturer suggested tension range and pattern if you ever need to claim racket warranty. Otherwise, string at whatever tension you prefer. Cheers.
Racket breakage usually due to bad string job or bad usage (e.g. clash). Just 2-3 lbs over the recommended string tension should not damage the racket, if the job is correctly done. If you really worry about the durability / warranty, keep it within the max string tension range for several weeks/months, just in case there's a defect. If you care about your performance way over, then, go ahead and enjoy your game.
Not nessesary to string low or manufacturer recommended tension during the 1st time. Unless you are really worried about factory defect. Normally for me i tensioned it at around 28lbs to 30lbs for my new rackets. Nothing to worry about.
With low tensions your racquet will take a few days of play, for the strings to settle and even out, to reach its peak. With very high tensions the racquet is at its peak with its very first shot. When properly strung, high tensions will do no harm to the frame. Improper use of stringing machines and stringers with no experience with very high tensions do more harm to racquet frames than high tension. Also, racquet clashes do the most harm to racquet frames; the poor stringers sometimes are wrongly blamed.
I've just got back my racquet from shop and I found that my racquet is fatter than the original. And the paint at position A15 and a15 is bloated. I would like to know if my racquet is cracked inside? or just a little problem with the paint when the frame is deformed. My recommended tension is 23lbs main & 25lbs cross / NS8000. Should I come back where I bought the racquet for warranty?
If your racquet is fatter than when it was unstrung, my guess is that it was strung incorrectly. Either you can ask for a restring or find another competent stringer. Cheers.
