What string colour would you say best goes with the new colour Armortec 500 (silver/blackish frame)? Also I have a question about colour strings and how some people think them "slippery." What does that mean? Is there some sort of psychological difference with plaining with plain white versus colour string?

I would say either black, yellow or orange would go well with that new AT500.

I can see how different models, and hence different materials or gauges, of strings have different effect on the impact moment of the shuttle, but I really fail to see how different colors of the same model can affect the shuttle. Unless you know how the manufacturers dye or coat the strings, we won't have a scientific answer to this question. More a psychological thing I guess...

Most experienced and competitive players use white. Its a classic colour and is more reliable when play. Coloured string is more for juniors and people who have a slight need for differentiation. Enjoy!

That might not be the case of which to be more "experienced". Usually, pro players have designated stringers, and they order string in big reels, which mostly only have white available, or as white is the safe bet for any racket (more demand).

One reason why I think professionals use white is because they need the logo thats marked on their racquet to be seen by the cameras; whether is be Carlton, Yonex, etc...

The red Yonex logo or black Carlton logo just doesn't show as well on coloured strings...

Colours fading out - most people snap their strings before the colours fade out... even during juniors when I snapped a string every year or 2, the colours would still be as new

Differentiation - I use different colours to denote what tension I have on the racquets.. Sometimes it'd be 26 ,sometimes 24.. I cant just stick with one.. urgh.. nOOb in the house!

    Might not be the case.

Many SOTX, Gosen, Carlton, etc strings don't carry white color, instead, their "default" color is more like silver, grey, yellow, or "rice" (Amber?) color. I don't see the difference that red/black stencil ink on such color strings when compare to white.

In defense of myself, I claimed "I think", rather than give a definative answer (because I dont know it).. hehe

The stencil used on my purple and dark blue strings dont come up as well, even with a black marker; thats why I came up with that 'hypothesis'

No worry, that's why I used "might not" in my post. :p As for your case, might give a shot to white / silver cover for stencil color choice?

Your painted strings will taint the shuttlecocks which will in turn stain other people's strings and rackets. I hate playing against people with painted strings because I get the red ink all over my strings and rackets.

    white string.

Let me share a secret with you. Sometimes people like white is due to 'ego'. (not to offence anyone, this is my thought). So, when you have white strings and if you play after a while, you'll notice that there is a spot (discoloured) right in the middle. This is the satisfaction factor or the 'ego' sweet spot. I like to have it. It looks as if you have played a long time and always hit on the sweet spot, thus making you look as if you are a really cool player. agree?:D It feels good to have that sweet spot.

But it's a good indication about how accurate / consistent you can hit, right? :p

That's where the problem is! I already know where I hit from all the "tak" and "ding" during the session and I do not need further reminder when I get home! haha :D

I will get coloured string if the local sporting good would carry one...I rather buy local than from the net...keep the local business going. good for the community.

coloured strings are nice (not painted but factory coloured), and kinda make you different from the rest.
