    I only know Rudy Hartono's chinese name, Liang Hai Liang, if i'm not mistaken. His family name is the same as mine:D ...

    I hope so... hehehehe... My father said that rudi is also a hokkienese and my father is also from east java (rudi is also from east java right?), so who knows? :D Maybe you are right...

    Not every. Many of them are actually chinese indonesian.

    Alan Budi Kesuma = Goey Ren Fang.Eng Hian.Kho Mei Hwa,Ivanna Lie Eng Hoa.Indra Gunawan is Zhang sth.

    Dont be deceived by looks, a lot of Inas & Malaysians look like chinese but they may be Dayaks, Kadazans etc,
    they are more like China Minority people in Yunnan etc.

    Thanks for the info ......... during discussion with my China collegue, they didn't know Susi Susanti and keep said not her .......... eventhough when they saw me the pics it was Susi Susanti .........

    I think only Liem Swie King, Kho Mei Hwa, Eng Hian and Ivanna Lie are the player who keep their original name in all their official documents, others using their Indonesian name.

    Just cursious, does it mean,

    Liang (in Chinese) == Hartono (in Indoesian)
    Wijaya (in Chinese) == Chen (in Indonesian)
    Gunawan (in Chinese) == Wu (in Indoneisian)

    No. But I do know that some surnames adopted by chinese indonesians tend to contain the sounds of their chinese surnames.

    As a result, my guest is that Chandra contains Chan which is a dialect version of Chen, Gunawan perhaps contains the sound of Goh which is a dialect version of Wu.

    But this might not be accurate. Although my best friend is chinese indonesian but he never adopted an indonesian name and our group of other chinese indonesian friends never explained about their indonesian surnames. It somehow didn't occur as a topic before. But I vaguely remembered hearing something like that from someone before.
