As far as I know, we (Canada) has to order the machine from US. Just check the stringing machine web site in BC - stringing technique. The ATS's entry level machine can be used for badminton/tennis/squash rackets.

Actually I am aware of a few places in Canada that you can order stringing machine from. However, that was many years ago when I last contacted them.

    1. <http://www.sptennis.com> -> not sure if their stringing machine can do badminton or not.
    2. <http://www.blackknight.ca> -> they were quite expensive, in the thousands Canadian dollar. May not work if you are only stringing for personal use. Not sure if they are selling a machine now or not.
    3. <http://www.gammasports.com> -> If my memory serves me right, they had a representative in Canada. Not sure now.

Contact them and ask. You can always order from the US.

    Cheers. :)

This is probably the best time to order a stringing machine from the US because the CAD $ is so strong (regardless of duty & import fees).

Right now I'm awaiting my order for a Laserfibre MS200 w/o fixed clamps.
I've already purchased and received from the US the following:
-1 Eagnas starting clamp and grommet remover
    -4 Hi-Qua Fly Clamps
The difference between the dollars are not back breaking.

Machines that are commonly owned by forum members have been:
-the Klippermate (great value machine) http://www.klipperusa.com/products/productdetail.php?catnum=M140
    -a variety of eagnas machines

    Think about it.

Yes..CAD$ is strong lately. I just order one from Eagnas and should be here next week. We probably will not get another chance like that in the future so take advantage of it to buy other things like strings/rackets/birdies etc.

I am thinking about selling mine. I haven't used it in many years. It's a drop weight table top version made by RSL. It's in mint condition with all the accessories and manual. Can do tennis, squash and badminton raquets. If interested, let me know and I'll consider selling it (I'll have to think about a price).

I'm assuming you are talking about the Klippermate? There are different mounts for badminton rackets. You could always buy the tennis stringer and then order badminton mounts (in the accessories link i believe).

i think the $ amount will come out to the same no matter what.

I'm seriously considering getting a stringer as well and I am in canada too. I've been looking at the sptennis one
    http://www.sptennis.com/stringer.asp#Swing
which is a drop weight and does tennis rackets. I contacted the company and they ship from canada. But to handle badminton rackets you have to buy a kit for 100 dollars. So the total was $405.xx CAD
I was looking at this one because it can do tennis and badminton rackets (with kit) and it has a 6 point mounting system. I had let a guy with a 2 point mount string my racket and he put a minor dent in the head.

The cheapest is the Klippermate but the base model can only do badminton and it's only a 2 point mount and it kind of looks flimsy.

    Any thoughts or suggestions?

Stringing per se is very easy to do. To get consistency and excellent result on any machine, however, requires good techniques, lots of practice, and the willingness on your part to improve. There are various proponents on 2-points or more points support stringing machines. Each has its own advantages and disadvantages. I have used 2-points stringing machine before to string badminton rackets for upto 30 lbs without any issue.

    FWIW.

    Cheers. :)

does anyone have any experience with the sptennis machines? they are listed in the stringingmachine thread but everyone seems to have other models. I'm having second thoughts about this sptennis one.

just another question, is it difficult to learn to string? because i dotn watn to spend 150 + shipping and stuff and then screw up my 99, or my E-1000, or my Ti-10? anything serious will happen to the rackets from bad stringin? obviously i am going to practise on old steel rackets first to first get the feel.

Nah, it is not difficult to learn to string. Being satisfied with your stringing, however, is dependent on how quick you learn to string. Using an old racket for your stringing practice is a very good idea. However, it is not necessary. I remember that when I started stringing many, many, many years ago, I was using my favorite and high end racket. It took me "two days" to complete my stringing, from 11 pm to 3 am. :D I was quite satisfied with my result, though.

    Cheers. :)

I believe there are additional charges due to brokerage fees for having items from the US arrive on Canadian soil. Don't know the full details.
