Gollum: Indeed, as I said for simple instructions to start with it migth be fine, but for advanced players or adults, the variables can be landmarks in itself.

Up to a point, perhaps. But you soon descend into a quagmire of grip names. Apart from the potential for confusion (four grips is confusing enough!), you don't really gain anything from the extra names.

It's more effective to teach the landmarks, and teach the ideas behind grip changes. Rather than give people 100 landmarks to remember, give them four; then teach them orienteering skills so that they can navigate between the landmarks.
