Overall, I prefer Ashaway and Yonex strings.

As for what type for what player, I'd say just try them out. I'd start with Ashaway PG65 Neon and Yonex BG80 and go from there.

I am a power player and i use the Bg-66 for all my racquets eventhough it breaks easily. I think its those power hitters should use it.

it's the weaker players that needed bg66 lol
    power hitters avoid them, totally.

I think this depends. I was comparing BG66 to PG66 and broke 15 strings in 6 days. So for me, though I love both strings, it's not realistic to use such a thin string.

I feel it's best to let people try the string, see if it lasts and go from there. :)

Yeah, I avoid them because I keep breaking them. A 0.70mm string is good for me. ML-XL at 0.73mm is very impressive too, so far. Anything 0.68mm or less just doesn't last for me, unfortunately.

G string for beach volley ball player. Just kidding.

I am more of a contral player and I use BG85 exclusively. I like the feeback and grip of the string. Most of my friends I string for use BG80 for both control and it is more durabe than BG85. Only few people I know break strings like Sir DinksALot. In his case I will recommand him play with tennis string. Wait, he just might break it anyway...:D

Hahahaha! Love the G String one!

I like BG-80. It is a great comprimise between performance and durability. The performance is high, much better than any BG- -Ti, I don't like the Ti coated strings. The durability is reasonable too, BG80 normally lasts me 3 - 4 months of approx 10hrs play per week.

I am pretty much on the same boat. Used to use BG85 a lot, only to find out it breaks on me every 7-10 days. Even with my own machine, I can't catch up with this speed. Switched to BG80 since 6 months ago, and love it. The durability at least doubled, well not suffering much from performance. ;)

Agree, BG80 is very hard to beat, it's a first-rate string. I'm still back and forth on BG80 vs. PG65 Neon. Also testing ML-XL. Sometimes, life can be tough. :p

Strings have no life on Sir Dink's racquet. They just DIE!!!

LB, I switch between racquets every other day. This way, my BG85 last between 1.5 mo to 2 mo. What do you think?

I'm apower hitter so any string that allows power and gives me touch is a good deal.

ProAce - best power string I've ever used, amazing control and touch - but a miniscule lifespan. I would be lucky to get two matches out of it.

Gosen 88 - .66 gauge string that hits very very hard. However it does not take mishits very well. Decent touch, thought it does feel dead compared to BG-65 and sounds like you're hitting the bird with a wooden spoon.

Forza .70 - great power string and nice touch, but it tends to stretch suddenly. Out of a couple dozen packs I've only ever broken it once - usually had to re-sring because of loss of tension.

Gosen Pro - 70: currently in my racquets as a replacement to the Gosen-88. Very impressed so far. Lots of power, surprisingly good control and tough as BG-65 so far. I might have to cut one out so I can test the Gosen-Nanocubic Pete LSD gave me.

BG-65: The standard for durability and decent power. For a long time I'd keep a third racquet string with 65 to ensure I finished a tourney if my first two broke.

Black Knight/ProKennex: Think was called Lonfibre by BK, but it what the "old white" kennex string. It was an okay string given it was a cheap as dirt. Doesn't hold tension about 21 lbs and pretty much snaps if you go above 23 lbs. No touch, decent power, but at 18 pounds this stuff would last forever. A fellow coach has one of my old BK sabres (one below the Rapier) that has had the same set of this string in it for TEN YEARS.

Gosen Bioroots series: Found to be a very good touch string, very lively feel, but couldn't generate bubkus for power out of it. Don't kow how long it might have lasted as I cut it out after a week.

Gosen 505 Ti : If you are a touch player, this is the string for you ( if you can find it anymore) nice feel, crisp sound, you can feel every shot with this stuff and really good for slices. And if you like that "Ting" sounds, it does it well. Drawbacks - not great for power and don't allow it to get cold as it tends to get brittle. Decent longevity and didn;t seem to strecth out much.

Ashway Rally 21: This string seemed to be middle of the road with everything - decent but not great power, decent touch, okay control, resonably good lifespan, howvere I did find I iahd to string it a couple pounds heavier than what I normally play at as it tended to stretch a lot in the first two games.
