Don't know if there has already been a thread on this, did some searching but couldn't find it, but what is the best sounding and loudest string you have ever used. State its name, thickness, and tension, and what racquet you used. and feel free to comment on anything else about the string, ex) feel, power, etc. Thnx.

Lots of honorable mentions (or maybe even better sounding) but for me, I'll go with:

SOTX Woven 11 strung with Yonex BG80 at 26/28.5lbs.

When hit properly, you get a nice, "SHHHHHHHH...BOOOOOOOOM!!!" and people from the other courts turn to see who just hit that bird. :p :D :D :D

also depends ont he stroke...bg66 at 22x24 on a w-7...if I pop the bird in my room it just 'sings' Piiiiiiiiiiiiing.

a National player at my club (jordy halapiry, doubles player) uses a cab30ms with bg65 at about 29lbs I'd say...I got a brilliant chance to play with him...his smash impared my hearing...

bg68-ti at 23x25, on my at500...the first smash is just such an awesome "Crack"

all I can say is some rackets make it sound louder (ns8k hits 'louder' but nto harder than my at500/woven7) btu generally thin strings sound the loudest. 'higher' (in holland 22x24 is 'high' actually...I've met 5 people that string higher, but almost always bg65...) tensions sounds high-pitched. lower tension give a low boom.

also the stroke matters..al sliced smash gives more of a cracking sound (to me) and a square-on hit gives a boom...

Natural gut, because nothing comes close - no synthetic string can match it.

Babolat VS touch to be precise ;)

I am currently using Ashaway TMP990 racket with BG65 string at 27lbs. The "BOOM" sound more compare to Ashaway string at 25/27lbs. But the Ashaway string would product higher piiiiing sound.

i like bg 80 on 24x22 ns8000, gives the nice gentle tiinng sound on the soft shots and the whaaPOCK on the smashes, and hard slices sound like SCHOP

Within all the combinations I've tried so far, cab30ms + BG80 (22x24) gives me the loudest sound, if hit correctly. ;)

LOL. This is not a golf game. You don't need the "ping". Why don't you hang a ring/bell on your racquet? It will make a ring everytime you return the birdie.

I'm not really surprised by that. That man just has such an amazing acceleration in his arms... At the Amor-tournament in 05 he played as wel. His smashes were more powerfull than the ones of jurgen wouters, rune massing and joely residay.... To bad for him he had a hangover on sunday :p so he lost the MD final to Rune and Joely

I rarely get the chance to be there when he trains...really awe-inspirering. never heard such a sound before..even at teh Dutch open or European Masters...but then: all other courts stopped playign to watch him kill birds...

what was weird to see was if he did a full-power smash there was just no way he kept the bird landing before the second service line (doubles-back-service-line) he mixed in a jump, maybe a bit slice. and his smashes where softer, btu landed a feet behidn the T-joint...amazing to se ethat trade-off between power and angle, at such extremes.

can't imagine hwo his smash sounds with BG80, or BG66...
