went to stadium juara,mt kiara fews days ago. saw the juniors having their training.. they are not discipline at all, playing fool all the time....will this attitude affect their future?? or discipline have nothing to do with badminton?? giv comments...
At a younger age, it's hard to rule with an iron fist. You need to give some and let the kids play or "fool around". Badminton needs to be fun. If it's fun, there will be continued interest. When badminton is no longer fun, there is little to no driving factor for them to do their best. Fooling around helps make it fun.
it's all about goals... if you just want to enjoy badminton. why not fool around? you'll have fun ánd get to do the sport you love.. Unless youwant more. personally, I enjoy progress and feeling myself grow. I aspire to go to the next level. Why? I have no clue, maybe just bceause it's fun....I personally love brutal trainings.... but this started this year though. before I played 3 times a week, and just relaxed trainings. new club, new coach, new attitude, and massive improvements... so: set your goals, modify you schedule (sp?)
As hard as training can get, everyone is human with limitations and feelings. Fun factor needs to be thrown in to keep things lively. You can't expect to see an All England Final every training day. I'd love to see that too, but it doesnt happen. There will be time to slow down and time to push further and harder. It's not about abeing lazy but training smart to peak at the right time. It's in Sports Science as well. Making an assesment from one visit will not prove anything. Let's hope they make it. Also, badminton is a performance event. What happens in training means nothing if they do not BRING IT during CRUNCH TIME. Also the great Martin Dew Hattens also shuns the plain regimental training alone will not create a trully world beater player.
I think there are no problem to have some fun when traning but don't be over. However they are still young and may be more playful and energertic compared to the seniors but i think this is just a minor problem and won't affect their performance and i believe they are serious in their traning.Sometimes there are quite boring when traning and they need to have some fun.
Long disciplined training might not helped at all if young players are not stimulated. What matters most important when training is the attitude, the desire to improve and learn. When one has the right mindset, training will maximise his progress. Since Malaysia is a relatively open society with plenty of distractions, regimented training might not spur the players more to improve. What works for players from China might not work for players from other countries.
How young are those junior players we are talking here? If they are old enough (eg. over 15 years old), then I think they ought to train with serious attitude. Otherwise, whats the point of having junior team. Having the privilege to start training at young age is all about disciplines building. If we are talking about twelve or thirteen years old kids, then I think it is acceptable to make the sports fun to play rather than play to win.
"The beating continues until the screaming stops." That's my coaching philosophy. Just kidding. As someone else's pointed out, you've to cycle intense training with fun downtimes or you'd have a bunch of burned out kids. May be the OP just happened to drop by during one of their "fun" periods.
the juniors player ranged from 14 to 17 years old.... ya i do argree adding some fun in the training can be stimulate their interest more and they will improve more. but they seem over make fooling around all the time... i heard that chinese coach are very strict and the players are really good discipline.
14-17 The 2010-12 squad training at Stadium Juara are all above age 17. Did you go on a Sunday??? Sunday's are off days. sometimes the kids from Bukit Jalil come on Sundays just to play with the 2010-12 squad on Sundays.
