Hey, I got some problems on my lifting at any places in the court. I'm not sure the problem is, but the shuttle is not far or high. When I hit, the shuttle is just low and short. The opponents just smashed it and I coudn't get it. Is the some techniques or training i can do so i can improve my lifting??? (This include lifting up a smash and serving)

get some coaching, make sure your gripping is correct, and just keep practicing. get someone to feed you shuttles and just practice lifts.

ya my coach says the same too. flick hard not with ur arm like in tennis. do it while warming up, it helps imprint into your later game.

you use wrist in pretty much every shot, if you weight train and keep praticing your lifts will become more powerful.

For more power when lifting use a bigger swing. The bigger the swing the more the leverage. Just watch top players lift from the net, both forehand and backhand, high to the baseline. Their arms look like a circle, well almost a complete one.

using just wrist would be hard for a beginner, i agree with taneepak-use a full swing, + your wrist, with all ur might. don't worry about deception yet.

also u must be able to judge the angle you're gonna hit it with. if the drop is steep and the angle is near impossible to lift u should play a net instead of trying to lift.

anyway when u said 'lifting up a smash and serving', do u mean lifting a smash and lifting a serve? i think lifting a serve is easy, but i think block to net is easier than lifting a smash, unless the opponent is already near net, or he is one who follows up the smash very well(one who runs forward very quickly after smashing). But apart from that, lifting a powerful smash really ain't easy unless you have good prediction

Try hitting the lift from between the legs. Then, when you go back the normal lift will seem in comparison to be much more natural and comfortable.
