Just finished watching Tien Minh Nguyen's WC match against India's Parupalli Kashyap. 20-15 down in the final set and comes back to win 22-20. I feel quite sorry for Kashyap because I thought he played extremely well, especially in that final set. But great determination from Nguyen. I really hope he progresses further in this tournament. Well Done.

Kashyap gave TMN a huge scare, there! Great match!

He will be up against WCH or Boonsak, in the round of 16. He should be able to overcome either one of them.
Needs to go get some proper rest now...

Frost commented that the two players are essentially "rally" players, depending very much on their physical fitness but unfortunately without a "killer" punch.
NTM is certainly very strong on his legs and can move fast but in order to advance a notch higher, he needs to work on sharpening his attacking shots.

i think NTM did not play too well against Kashyap, just too predictable plus too many unforced errors..
hope he doesnt do the same for his next round...good luck
For Kashyap, his failure to win have to blame on himself..as he loses 5 matchpoint in too easy pace....good luck..

wow. this guy did well from 15-20. the 20-20 shot was amazing and brutal. Well done to him.
Kashap broke 4 strings and could have won. The 20-19 shot could have just net instead of pushing outside. Need to kick himself.
Amazing return from NTM. Well done.
He will cherish this game forever in his mind.

.
Yes, Congratulations to Nguyen Tien Minh [7] for arriving at the Quarter-Finals.
Against Peter Hoeg Gade [3], it won't be easy.
Let's see what will happen at the end of tonight (they are scheduled to play the last match of Session 2).

Watched his match against gade yesterday night, can see nguyen already go all out in the match and fighting for every point and each rally. Unfortunately, GaDE has the experience and secure the game. Better luck next time, tien minh,

Congratulations to TMN, one of the most consistent players on the circuit! If he can incorporate just a little more aggression and change of pace now, I'd say he's looking good for a medal at the OG next year!
So, is it safe to say that the real Sasaki was a "no-sho" at the finals?

Maybe the BWF should restrict players ranked in the top ten from competing in the the lower tier tournaments like the GP to encourage those young professionals who are just starting up.

But for Tien Minh its a bit of national pride at stake as well
Now, if Vietnam had a Super Series, it would be a different case.
Also, Sho Sasaki has been rising thorugh the ranks right from the beginning of this year. He started the year ranked 29, now he's up to 9 in the BWF rankings. I guess its safe to say that he was not ranked 9 when he was entered for this tournament.
