According to my calculations (usually correct ), after the Macau Open, Lin Dan will be back to Number 1. All this while, LCW was Number 1 because LD played less tournaments than him, but after Macau, LD will have his full complement of 10 tournaments to his credit. However, LCW will not be far behind LD (less than 1000 points) and will still be the undisputed No 2, because Peter Gade is some distance away.
It will be a ding dong between the two from onwards unless PG decides he wants to be involved with this ding donging game as well. PG is the only other player who can figure in this No.1 spot too.
Anybody know that how to calculate the points. 4* ,5* haw many points for the champoin ,and runner up? i believe that if LCW win the TO, he will back to No1..

According to my calculations, even if LCW wins the Thai Open (which I assumed to be a 3* event), he will not catch LD. For Peter Gade, he will also not be able to catch LCW even if he wins the Thai Open. The rest are too far away to disturb the top 3. So, after the Thai Open, it will remain: 1. LD 2. LCW 3. PG
advise for LCW : just stay at big of 3, don't be rush to achieve # 1 arrange the peak of performance, Wc is closer, it's only 2 months left.

I don't mind as long as LCW remains top 2 in the world. LD deserves to be number one as he is a better player. I am more interested to see LCW to beat LD outside Msia, rather than getting number 1 ranking.
I think the aim is to stay at top 2, not top 3. If you are seeded #1 or #2, a. You know you cannot meet Lin Dan until final (assuming he is top 2 seed which is very likely) b. There is half a chance you will avoid PG in the semifinal. Taufik? Whether you are No 1 seed or unseeded, you can meet him any round, so it's up to luck of the draw.
Totally agree with you. I think mentally, it would be a fresh new world for LCW if he can string together some impressive wins to win a title outside Malaysia (Madrid maybe?). There are other big guns out there, not just Lin Dan.
When it comes to adding and subtracting, I am an expert. If the new ranking proves (out every Thursday) otherwise, blame my desktop calculator.
The Men's Singles event was a much awaited match at the Tap Seac Multisport Pavillion yesterday, as bitter rivals Lin Dan (CHN) and Lee Chong Wei (MAS) once again battled for not only the title of Macau Open champion but also the determinant for the position as world no. 1. Lin Dan started well by taking the first game at 21-18. But Lee Chong Wei's resilient fighting spirit and skillful play leveled-up in the second game, 21-18. Despite that both players showed imminence level of skill, it was Lin who had a slight edge over Lee, won the third game and emerged as champion. It was a double joy for Lin Dan as he not only won the title in the inaugural Macau Badminton Open 2006 but also regained his spot as world no. 1 in the IBF ranking.
My calculation, after Macau Open, Lin Dan's points is 40,903 while Lee Chong wei's points is 39,993 . So, Lin Dan No1 and Lee Chong Wei No2. Correct me if I am wrong.
