Thank you for the info. This is news to me. Are there anymore from the "PBSI Recycled Bin" that may be interested in nearby Singapore? Other benefits: Ada ramai orang di-sini boleh cakap Bahasa Indonesia, dikit2 lah! Makanan pun bagus. Almost the same as Jakarta. The greatest benefit is that players can continue to train and be sent to overseas tournamenst if they are good enough.
It's good for the players. think that is one of the reasons they move out from Indo, cos now PBSI pocket is very very thin, even top players there only selectively sent to overseas tournaments.
Chandra is in the US now playing in US OPEN; i saw him play double games yesterday in OCBC with Tony GUnawan & HALIM HARYANTO HO and Howard BACH. I did nt see him play single but in the double games, among the four he was the weakest link. He made lots of unforced errors and he was being attacked all the times.
This is my personal opinion: If young talented Indonesian shuttlers find no future in their badminton career in Indonesia due to strong competition in the country, SIngapore is a good destination...I agree with Loh...Time is now... I am very optimistic that SIngapore will be a sort of " melting pot" of World-Class Shuttlers, especially those coming from China and Indonesia". As we can witness that SIngapore Open is (perhaps) the most well-organized Grand Prix series (with All-ENgland), that is a clear indication that the organizer (+ the government + sponsor) is serious with Badminton. It is true that now SIngapore does not have a World-Class player, but with the stable economic condition of the country and being one of the financially richest country in Asia or (the world), this will certainly be able to serve as the "carrort" for international young and talented players who want to pursue career in Badminton. I don't think Indonesian players will find it difficult to live in SIngapore. SIngapore is just like Jakarta in terms of food, climate, people...However, SIngapore is a lot more well-organized and cleaner than Jakarta
then i'm pretty sure i met him in TC this year, after the semi, he came in on court to listen to the speech of the head of the team(don't know who he is). but i still don't remember his look cause i was busy trying to take picture of Taufik
Yes, he's with us for some time now, more than a year, perhaps two. But Erwin Djohan hasn't been making much progress, I feel. And if he is not up to the mark with training and competition, then others will be given a chance. I hope Erwin can show his real talent soon.
hmm, if i recall, there is a pic of Markus Wijanu, actually a few pics of him with the INA team in the recent Thomas Cup event...try looking and searching in some threads in that event..
Concur with you there indra, agree, agree and agree.. Although last yr, when i went to S'pore to attend the S'pore Open, i was fortunate to meet and chatted with Wiempie Mahardi(he asked me abt how's the living style in U.S. and asked abt Tony G. coaching there & Halim coming abroad to U.S. and the upcoming W.C. etc.).. I believe at that time he was asked to join and sparred with the S'pore team. But he said, eventhough the food is ok, at first he really didn't like living in S'pore cos he didn't have much friends(for social-wise cos probably of language diffference also) and he didn't know what to do on weekends(kinda homesick cos it's a bit of different environment)... I don't know what happened to him though since then?? Does anyone know if he's still there??..
