Only know how to talk but doesn't want to take actions. Expect others to organize and then you simply show up. Typical.

there are many many teenagers there that can beat the hell out of a adult in badminton. just specify the age group and i am sure ppl will be interested for a game or two.

with or without games....lets make this national day a happy one...happy national day!!!!

Too bad that this will be the last year that Spore will be using the Padang for the National Day event.

    Ndp 2006

This year's National Day Parade (NDP) will be held for the last time at the National Stadium (not Padang). The National Stadium will then be demolished. A new stadium will be constructed as part of the new Sports Hub.

For details on this year's NDP celebrations, you can refer to the following :

Hey, regardless of your age, if you organize, I believe somebody will join. Give it a try.

Hi Ants, you have been misinformed!:D

The "Padang" (the huge field outside the Parliament House) will still be there. This year is the last time we will be using the National Stadium (the stadium just infront of the Singapore Indoor Stadium) for the National Day event. Afterthat, the National Stadium will be torn down to be rebuilt.

For many older Singaporean, the National Stadium brought back golden memory during the 70-80s where football is at its hottest in the region. I will never forget the experience of in the midst of a full-packed close to 55,000 spectators cheering for the Singapore soccer team when they are playing under the Malaysia league.

Happy National Day to all fellow Singaporeans!:)

Yes, I did experience that too. The stadium would be packed whenever Singapore played any of the strong Malaysian states like Selangor, Pahang and Penang during those days. We even joined a few bus loads of Singaporeans to travel to KL and Johor Baru to support our team normally during weekends and report to work on Monday mornings with sleepy eyes.

And when Singapore played Malaysia's national team, the sparks would fly, many fans would be terribly disappointed for not being able to get tickets and some would have to pay a high price to touts for the pleasure of watching the match. It would be sort of a celebration for large families who would come early with their home-prepared food and turn their space into a picnic ground.

But when Singapore left the Malaysia Cup league, the enthusiasm also died with it. The 'Kallang Wave' , which is very loud cheering and feet stomping coordinated with precision-like standing up from your seat with outstretched waving arms when your turn came to join the rest of the fans in merry making and which reveberated around the stadium, was never to be seen again for a very, very long time.

But the new National Stadium will be more or less of the same size with the same seating capacity but more hi-tec with a retractable roof. It will be complemented in the vicinity with a new swimming complex and a multipurpose hall so that we can organized more international events in this transformed Kallang Sports Hub by 2012, made more accessible by the new Circle Line. Naturally the sports and entertainment scene there will become much more vibrant and exciting! :)
