Hey coolman, thou I've been quite sometimes out of Indonesia, but i still believe the strongest province should be in Java (east, central, west and Jakarta) Bali may not be that bad too. I have friend from Bali (former province player) who can play really-really good.. so I assume Bali should be not bad. As for Tanjung Pinang, I m not so familiar. But I guess lotsa players from Java have been shifted to other places inld Batam & Tanjung Pinang. I heard one of the ex Indo National Player now is the coach in one of badminton club in Batam.

Indonesia does not has state. They have province. there are +/- 30 of them, depend if the gov. change them again or not (the last time I was there was 27). according to my knowledge, the badminton power houses ussually are in Java island (east, west, central, DKI Jakarta, and Banten). Some of them are from Surabaya in East Java, then Central Java (Kudus, Solo, Jogja etc etc, where the big cigarette companies are.) Tanjung Pinang most likely is a city in Riau...(the closest province to SGP). I don't know for sure. The sumatra provinces is another strong contender...places like medan (North Sumatra)...I don't know about the other provinces. I hope that helps a bit
mainly java. come to jakarta if you're looking for coaches, there are zillions of them (not all of them are really good though)
state of indonesia good for badminton.... that's depend on what level you want... for amateur every state has their own good amateur players.....beacuse you can very easy to find badminton court.. (every elementary, middle school, high school has at lease one badminton court (no mix with another court)) but if you talking about professional level jakarta, bandung, surabaya, kudus (middle java), bali, etc (usually big city/state) there many of professional club such as Djarum, Jaya Raya, Mutiara, etc....
