I heard for my local sport shop that tennis shoes are heavier compare to badminton shoes cos you need not have to do any jump smash.

heavier and harder rubber to resist wear on clay and concrete court.

unless u only play on indoor tennis, most good badminton clubs wont let u wear outside shoes on their nice courts.

imho, depend on the court surface. if the club use the rubber surface, tennis shoes should not be a issue. Wipe clean the sole before you enter. If it is nice hardwood floor, make sure it has none marking sole. Like Cooler says, tennis shoes are heavier in nature. I think if you really can not get a pair of badminton shoes, tennis shoes will be a acceptable sub. Why? because I am using one.

Well, in Singapore, most of the court is hardwood...I think... so... I will just buy a pair of badminton shoe.. I think it cost about SGD$35 - $ 70 for a reasonable pair.

Well, I've just gotten a pair of badminton shoes, from Yonex.

I hope I got the right size, it fit just nice... I thought fitting for badminton shoe is better... correct me if I am wrong....

Interestingly, my running shoe is US size 8.5, tennis shoe is US size 8 and badminton shoe is US size 7. Seems to be getting smaller. But of course my tennis shoe feels slightly bigger than my badminton shoe.

I hope the leather of my badminton will stretch a bit...

    Hello,

I have had worn Yonex shoes in the past, however, I've switched to ASICS badminton shoes recently and I have no regret as ASICS does give better support and much better padding than Yonex. Both brands are at similiar price tags, but Yonex shoes doesn't seem last long.

Not sure what's the model name in US, but you can have a look in the following website:-
    http://www.centralsports.co.uk/shop.php?page=detail&product=5605

    Hope this will help.

I was thinking about it too... but they don't have 7.5. But will 7.5 be too loose.... because I was told that leather will stretch a bit after awhile.... pls advise.

If not, I will have to bring it back to change it, if cannot, then sell it. Anyway, I have no use it yet. The tag is still there.....:(

buy what's fit for you, not to fit salesman's daily quota. Don't your other sizes 8.5 and 8 give u some hints that u r so out of range on a 7:confused: I think u got a snow job in singapore and I know snow, i live in canada :D (borrowed from finding nemo's clown fish joke;))

Prince makes some really nice tennis shoes that can be worn for Badminton.
I saw another player wearing it and it looked really nice.

:D :D .... thanks.. anyway, just called the sales guy. Requested to change to another model with size US 7.5. I should be better... Thank God that the sale guy allow me to change.

I guess the next time when I buy shoes, it should only range from US size 7.5 to 8.5.

badminton shoes feel like running shoes or cross trainer shoes but with more cushioning. they're definitely worth investing in

Your shoes even did not mention in the Yonex website : http://www.yonex.com/badminton/products/shoes.html
I saw last week at Mustafa Centre the Yonex SHB-56 for SGD55 (Red) only while I bought mine during Aviva Open 2006 for SGD59.90 (price at Royal Sporting is SGD79.90).

if the badminton shoes is too tight for you, your toe nails will be brusied and turn black.
