Yes, GDTV's schedule is up for next week and shows no badminton. CCTV-5 doesn't give me any TV schedule for next week and I can't read the full text stuff on the site. For those of you who must depend on web broadcasts, the bad news is that SBS is only showing 2 hours of badminton per day next week and that means 3-5PM on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. That's what all the badminton sites say, anyway. There is actually nothing about the Korea Open on the SBS website itself, nor on a site that gives the overall TV listings. MBC did the same thing last year. Their commentators packed up and went home and the broadcasting company showed Australian Open tennis instead of the men's doubles final in the Korea Open.

The only link above to anything in Korean is the URL for the SBS homepage and there is no information about the Korea Open there in any language. On the other hand, mikemike seems to have translated the schedule into English for us on the badmintonworld.org page for which he included the link.

If, for some reason, you did want to see the schedule posted in Korean, it is here. All the times are Korean Time, or 9 hours ahead of GMT. If you don't know your time zone relative to GMT, open the clock on your Windows desktop and find it on the list. It should be right there near where it says (GMT +9:00) Seoul.

The tournament website says that last year, the Open was shown on Astro, SCV in Singapore, and CCTV and others. Hopefully that will be true again this year so that not everyone's viewing hours will be limited to SBS's six hours.

Today's scores are already up on the draw sheets. Click "View Draws" on the Korea Open site.

Hopefully the camera operators will have the decency not to inflict that horror on any viewers.;) You might hear me if you listen carefully, though.

    Horror? Of course not!

I thought it is easier and more meaningful to associate the voice with the face and vice versa. One without the other leaves one in want and clueless. ;)

However, could you leave at least a hint as to how you would sound over the air? High pitch, low pitch, quick-paced or with an American drawl or typical Queens English accent (sorry I don't know how Canadian English sounds like but I presume you'll be speaking in English and not Korean? Certainly not Korean English like our Singlish?) :D

    Good Luck! :)

The only English you'll hear over the PA will be me. If you hear a woman's voice in English that will mean I'm temporarily away from my post. I don't know how well the PA stuff comes through on TV, though, and during the finals, we only announce 5 matches, quite possibly while you're watching commericials.

Canadian English is somewhere in between American drawl and the queen's English. We never get mistaken for Brits but often for Americans. Americans say they can tell us from words like "about", which they claim sounds like "a boat" when we say it. That's usually an exaggeration but our dipthong basically goes ah-oo or uh-oo instead of a-oo.
