I've been using these shuttles for a long time now. In my school practise sessions, we're supplied with these types of shuttles. I find that these shuttles seem to spin alot. They don't seem to be able to have steady flight like the other Yonex shuttles i've tried. Does anyone have any comment on this?
i have only used the AS-20. which is a bit higher grade than AS-10. and even the AS-20 are not stable. they wobble a lot during flight, and the consistency between different shuttles in a tube is pretty bad. frankly, i think the Yonex shuttles are overpriced. low end Yonex shuttles are similar priced as the high end shuttle from other brands. like RSL or Aeroplane. the others are definitely much better deal.
agree with you kwun. i've used AS-10 in our club here and there is no consistency between shuttles. all are different speed. also the flight is not good. you can get a much better deal with some other brand. same price for way better quality i've ordered Aeroplane. hopefully these are better
I dont' like the AS-10s as well Byron. I still like the AS-40s over any of the shuttles I tried to date. That's only because I can get them cheap. If not, would try anything else to find a decent and good one. The AS-10s and AS-30s are not very consistent. Also, the cork base for both are a little brittle/ dry about 10 or so really hard smashes and a few mishits here and there and you start to see the cork cracking ! Flight is quite good for the AS-30 comparable to the AS-40. But consistency and playability wise, the AS-40 beats its cheaper peers by a mile. The AS-50 is way too expensive .. not worth it at all. YangYang, Pro-tech and Victor shuttles are not bad at all ... Though Victor isn't that cheap either !
i find as10 and as20 not up to par too. I currently use proace aerotech 50. one look of the feather quality i can tell before playing that it is pretty decent stuff. proace only has aerotech 60 which cost little more. I stay with aerotech 50 because it is very good already.
Maybe we should all chip in a little bit extra and change all our shuttles to AS-40 I have to dumb these stupid AS-10. Anyone have comments on the lower grades like the AS-4, AS-3 and AS-2? I've tried all these except for the 2 grade. I find them to be ok
Shuttle Speed in North California I just want to add in the details. 77 is equivalent to 49 and is intended for summer use. 78 is equivalent to 50 and is instended for winter use.
For that kind of price, you will need to buy in large quantities (e.g. 25 doz) and if you order direct from the manufacturer, you will be looking at 200 doz minimum. If not, you will be looking at the lower grade shuttles where flight consistency is around C or D.
As-2 did a search for AS-2 and found this thread. my point: AS-2 is weird, crazy fast. it totally screwed my timing. maybe it's because the shuttle is new and i need to spoil it a little to make it fly normal. anyone tried AS-2s before?
interesting you ask. my dad bought some shuttles for me in hk and bought them back to aus not long ago. he didn't have time himself to buy them, so he just asked grandma to go to the sports shop and ask for some. so she did, and apparently the only tube they had was AS-2. which sounded a bit fishy. dad bought a whole lot of AS-3s a long time ago and we were desperate so now we have them. i agree that they're kind of shaky. i find that you don't have much control over the clears. the net shots are rather 'bouncy' too. apparently my dad has trouble finding AS 30s or above in hk. when i go back i'll have a look in some of the more specialist shops...
i've tried playin wif AS-2 for quite a number of times ard...n i agree with DivingBridie tt it isnt anything fantasic... one look at it n u culd tell that the feather quality isnt that good at all...as compared to the AS-30(which i use sometimes)...the cork isnt tt good either...the feel for AS-2 is somewhat similar to AS-10 i feel...jus tt the cork of AS-10 is better...the only reason y i used AS-2 is bcos it's like the cheapest among the other yonex shuttles...thus my frens keep on buyin them...think they've been brainwashed by yonex le.. anyway, i find Victor shuttles pretty good...they sure provide more consistency as compared to the lower grade yonex shuttles...not sure abt the price though
