Tony, could you say a few words and comments of today match?

Tony: We were a bit tired in the second set. I am happy to win this match, as i havn't play the malaysian pair before, they are really fast and attacking is strong, hence we try to kept attacking and drive all the time, on the 3rd set they seems a bit nervous and make some error, hence we won the last few points luckily.

Tony and Chandra as wild card

If IBF know how to market the sports of Badminton then Chandra/Tony should be invited as wild card in coming World championship.

yea.... I am totally agree with this WILD CARD.

If somebody here in BC know anyone sitting & working in IBF, can ask & consider about this Wild Card during meeting.

I am sure Badminton become more popular than before ;)

Actually Candra and Tony are of Chinese descent. Just like Hendrawan and Alan Budikusuma or Halim Haryanto. It is true that Chinese (mainland and overseas or descendants) seem to dominate the badminton world. Indonesia's Great, Rudi Hartono and Liem Swee King are Chinese descent.

Pardon me, I don't know much about Indonesian names or population structures, but neither 'Candra Wijaya' nor 'Tony Gunawan' seems to be a Chinese name, is it? In fact the former is actually a quite common Indian name. So why are you 100% sure that they are of Chinese ancestry? Where did they get these "foreign" names from?

You're asking questions that are verging on political history and politics of Indonesia. The country adopted a national policy in the past to have every citizen regardless of ethnicity to adopt an Indonesian name. Search the forum for more treads on Candra Wijaya. You'll come up with many useful references;).

not only i am sure they are chinese but also sure they have chinese name as well, but rarely use it especially in indonesia.

I am similar to them, have chinese name also, but seldom use it, if you ask indonesian (esp. indon chinese), they will know about this, cos very common.

as cappy75 mentioned, it's more related to national policy.
