Some friends and I are going to play in this tournament but the dress code is giving us a headache. Do we really need to wear all whites? White T-shirt is easy to find, but white shorts are a little more difficult.

CLOTHING - "Whites only" rule in effect at all venues, unless otherwise specified.

Just wondering if anyone have experience with this series and this rule.
IMO, this kind of dress code is obsolete, I don't remember the last time I see a pro wearing all whites. But we will respect the rule if it is indeed enforced, we just don't want to be the only ones showing in all whites.

We have few places that enfore the "whites only" rule here in Toronto too. Some only require top, but I know couple so call "up class" badminton clubs does require to you to go all top and bottom.

Make you feel like in the 80's.

Call them up, and see if you can get away with white shorts with a few color stripes on. Usually, the white dress code does not enforce for 100%, but more likely to be 75 - 85% white.

... when i first read the title i thought it was some racism crap... nvm

whites only is wierd enough, but from top to bottom? ouch. Personally 2 of my three main sports t-shirts are white, so i dont mind that much. I only have one pair of white shorts though.
IMO,this is kinda dumb, but i can understand why some ppl need it like this; does it happen to be a private club or private tournament? Or perhaps is everyone going supposesedly high class (eg as in wealth)? If so they probably want a dress code to keep out riff raff and such. Otherwise you should ask the tournament organizer why such a rule is needed. Most of my friends dress in white too  no idea why (when playing badminton). None of the pros do and Yonex sure doesnt want them to start; you can sell a designed shirt for alot more than a plain one but manufacture it for about the same$ :)

    my 2 cents

last year when i played the alberta series...well alberta open at winter club it was "whites only" but they didnt really enforce that rule i saw/played people with blue shirts, red shirts, black shots and all. Im actually playing this alberta series at the glencoe club lol so im just gonna use white short...well silver and white t-shirt it has to be mostly white so try and find it liek silver shorts will work just we wll. They might not enforce it but just to be on the safe side.

That is because Winter Club only requires a white TOP whereas Glencoe is absolutely strict on their all White attire rule.

yes kenny the glencoe is really strict about wearing white, even in training they won't let you wear the silver limited edition shoes, but they are fine for the tournament you just need to be 75% white, so mostly white shirt, what some white shorts. haha goto champs or foot locker when you get down here you'll find a huge selection or the glencoe pro shop has some really nice shorts

Yeah, they're pretty anal about having predominantly whites at the Glencoe.. but I have an old pair of white shorts I wear over black spandex all the time and I've never had an issue.

My shirts typically are white with signifcant slogans and colors ( Taz, Yonex, Roots wear) ... but never had any problems.

I'm going to get worked this weekend.

Haven't been able to play the last coupel of weeks and I'll be spending most the day painting fences and installing baseboards in my house prior to tomorrow night.
