Team China apparently hasn't received visa clearance for its squad of 14 players  So, it's unlikely they will come to Surabaya. It's a pity because the squad consists of Lu Qicheng and Liu Jie, probably the best Chinese players at junior level. Team England, Erwin Djohan and some Singapore players have also decided to skip the JPGG.

i can't believe kennevic is only seeded 3rd though, hmmm, he should be the most well-known player here ...

Err...again...NO. Jeffer Rosobin has been around for quite some time and he was once the ABC Champion. So, he is definitely more well-known than Kennevic.

I think Jeffer Rosobin is about the same time with Luo Yigang and Chen Gang of China and when Indra Wijaya was still representing Indonesia, even earlier than Wong Choong Hann.:D

If any of the younger players still lose to Jeffer Rosobin, who is 27 now as told to me by badMania during the Singapore Satellite, then it will be quite some time yet when we will be able to see a star as bright as Chen Jin, I'm afraid!

Yup...Kenichi Tago, the AJBC champion; the Asuncion sibilings; and some old guards like Bambang Supriyanto, Tri Kusharyanto and Minarti Timur are in Surabaya to spice up the competition. Not easy for the Pelatnas team to win titles here (esp in WS and XD). MD Final should be a rematch between Yoga/Yonathan and Rendra/Frans.

Some tough matches in the early rounds:
Kennichi Tago (if he wins the first round) vs Bandar Sigit Pamungkas
    Andreas Adityawarman vs Kenn Lim
Vanessa Neo Yu Yan/Shinta Mulia Sari vs Shendy Puspa/Devi Tika Permatasari

Kenichi Tago has beaten Bandar Sigit Pamungkas in 3 very closely contested sets 21-19, 18-21, 22-20. He will meet Kennevic Asuncion in the third round.

The other foreign players who managed to reach round 3 includes Tan Chun Seang (who will be playing Ahmad Rivai) and Darren Liew (who will be playing Indra Bagus Ade Chandra).

In the mixed doubles, Devi Tika Permatasari is now paired with Frans Kurniawan and they lost to non-Pelatnas pair Agung Rohanda/Irene in the first round 21-17, 18-21, 16-21. One other pair (possibly Pelatnas) Viki Indra Oktava/Richi Puspita Dili lost to Chan Peng Soon/Haw Chiao-Hwe 19-21, 17-21. Tantow/Yulianti continued their good run and beat Titon Gustaman/Jane David 21-19, 21-16. They are likely to play the Asuncion siblings in the quarter-final.
