Just wondering, when you are at the front, do you stay put at the front or sqaure when your partner do an attacking lob?
I guess you should watch to see if your opponent is put off balance by the shot - if so, stay at the net and finish off the weak return. If not, curse your partner and get ready to defend against the smash.
It depends on the relative "success" of the attack clear/lob. If it's good and pins the opponent deep, I'll stay up in case the opponent drops for the easy put away. If the attack clear/lob is not good and I feel the opponent can attack it, I'll go back to side-by-side.
Then this means your partner is not attack clearing/lobbing too well; maybe he should drop instead, or work on his attack.
Have your partner call out his shot to you, then you can react earlier. Sometimes before hitting the shuttle, I would say "clear" to let my partner know that I'm hitting a clear. It would help if you and your partner can speak a second language, this way your opponents won't know what you are saying....
