Smash contact point help please.
When you are doing a forehand smash. Do you make contact with the birdi directly over head or is the contact made slightly foreward closer to the net ?
Thnx for any help/comments

i think it's personal preference.
many people say highest point gives you the best angle (and power??) i'm not too sure about it but personally i smash slightly in front. if it's directly overhead or even slightly behind me, it'll probably be a quick, pure wrist smash.
but for clears, i really think highest point is best. so somehow highest point robs my power in smash but not in clears. looks like i need some guidance on techniques too..

In an ideal situation, the smash is played from slightly in front of you, not directly overhead.
Often, however, you will be forced to play the smash overhead or even from slightly behind you.

it's very hard to smash at the right timing...most often when i smash...the shuttle might hit the side instead of centre....

ahh people these days really need to use search function. you want to hit it highest point slightly in front of you to get angle and power, you wanna hit it above you for a clear.

Normal smash position is slightly forward of overhead.
