Yeap, he won both Men's and Mixed, but not the Women's double. He is a very good double player, definitely one of the best in Oceania. I managed to stayed and watched all the matches from 11am till 6pm in Brisbane yesterday. :)

yeah dan shirley played really well luke chong and i played dan and john gordon in the 3rd round of the international event and got 14 n 12.. was pretty happy about that john gordon was definatly a bit rusty though.. understandably though after that big lay off.. daniel shirley and his mixed partner are going to be outstandingly good though when they start to get used to how each other play!! had to leave at 2:30 to go back 2 perth :( so didnt get to watch any of the other finals just the doubles..

    AUSSIE TAKES WOMEN'S SINGLES TITLE

Chia-chi Huang (AUS) clinched another championship title in Brisbane today at the 2006 Australian International. Huang, who was the women’s singles champion in the Grand Pix 2006 Equinox NZ Open last month, looked in good form against the 5/8 seed Chie Umezu (JPN) winning 21-10, 21-14.

Dan Shirley (NZL) and new playing partner Joanne Quay (MAS) took out the mixed doubles finals against fellow kiwis Renee Flavell & Craig Cooper (NZL).

The successful tournament was run at the Sleeman Centre, site of the 1982 Commonwealth Games badminton competition. The venue has not dated and with badminton specific fixed lighting and five of the courts from the Melbourne 2006 Commonwealth Games used during the International, the Sleeman Centre shaped up to be one of the best badminton venues in the country.
