I am wondering whether the professional Chinese players get to keep all their cash winnings. I heard their professional tennis players don't get to keep their tournament cash prizes. What about the Chinese badminton players?

If they get to keep a portion, what percentage are they allowed to keep?

Are they also allowed to endorse products and get to keep the fees?

    Anybody?

Its tradition to give your coach 10%. I can't believe they don't get to keep their money... the training they get should be paid for by the govt sports program.

Then again China is a communist country so theoretically they should get the same amount as everyone else.

Aren't the coaches paid by the govt sports program also? I think it's fair. These pro players started training at an very early age and the govt provides room, food and training (of course by world class coaches). They don't need to pay anything. Most of their money should go back to the govt. Unlike other countries like Indonesia and Demark, I heard only the riches can afford to send their kids to the best badminton academy (correct me if I'm wrong). They paid for most of their training. So they can keep most of their winning.

haha, i believe it hasn't worked that way for a long time!
i'm sure china now has the fastest growth rate of millionaires in the world (in USD), so i'm sure wealth distribution is happening at a far smaller scale.

It never works that way. The ruling party always has more affluence. Thats why I said 'in theory' :D. Communism would be great... if it worked the way it was supposed to, but it never will because most people need materials or glory as motivation (myself included).

I heard some commentators saying that the chinese keep only 50% of their winnings.
That's because, they don't pay their room, clothes, shuttles, airticket, hotel ... etc etc

yeah, i think it's worth giving up 50% of your prize rather than having to pay for flights, hotels, meals and stuff like that all year.
unless you're LD or ZN of course ... :D
