Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 08-Jan-2012 (A Short Report)

At this CCC CATS, we worked on the How to play with 'Good Habits' and with 'Good Selections of Shots'.

Some comments;
* Trainees were placed in '2-against-1' positions in their Drills.
* Hold the racket-head higher as we move closer to the net.
* Know our shots which are best played from different Zones/Positions/Areas.
* Know our Base Position and Footwork/Balance when ready to return a Service, or when in the middle of a rally.
* After a 'Low Service', remember that it is your responsibility to guard/cover the Fore-Court.
* etc, etc, ......

* Timothy-T is now excellent at Net-play (in both Footwork and Strokes).
* Lisa-L's Low Service has improved a lot.
* Brendan-L missed the lesson on Low Service last week. We shall do it again another day.
* KeChong-K's Smashes are still too flat. It's because the Point of Impart is too close to 12:00 o'clock.
* Shaoqi-C's Lifts are still not accurate enough. It's because the Follow-through is not long enough. More practise is required.

Hi CCC CATS trainees,

Please be informed that for our CCC CATS on Sunday 15-Jan-2012, we shall be training at our usual time: from 10:00am to 12:00noon, and on our usual court: Court No.4.

Do always check this info thread regularly. This is because there are so many events happening at MSAC; that we can receive late changes to our CCC CATS Program at the very last moment.

There is a suggestion from helmut telling me that it's best for me to suggest which chapter/topic to teach based on what I find is lacking amongst our trainees.

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 15-Jan-2012 (A Short Report)

We welcomed 1 new trainee, Christine-N. Hope that she has enjoyed training with us.

At this CCC CATS, we worked on the Swipe.

Some comments;
* The Swipe is a stroke with follow-through over the net.
* The stroke direction goes upwards, not downwards.
* Keep shining the racket-face towards the court (not the stroke direction).
* The longer the follow-though, the better is the precision.
* The point of impact is above the net tape.
* The touch is best performed at medium pace/speed.
* The Swipe gives little time for the opposite net player.
* Swiping harder will hit the shuttlecock to the back player.
* Hitting the shuttlecock with the frame is the best.
* The opposite net player's racket-head shall not obstruct the stroke.
* Grip the handle of the racket not too tight.
* The Shining of the racket-face must be well-controlled by your grip.
* The Point of Impact cannot be in opponent's side of the court.
* Remember it is the Time Factor that beats the front net player.
* Have racket foot forward for longest reach.
* The Swipe is for the Net Challenge, and not for playing against a Dropshot from your opponent's back-tram line.
* etc, etc, ......

* Timothy-T is swiping the shuttlecock too fast. The back player can reach the shuttlecock.
* Lisa-L requires more work on the backhand swipe.
* Brendan-L is doing OK.
* KeChong-K requires more work on the forehand swipe.
* Hong-N sometimes uses the forehand grip for the backhand swipe.
* Christine-N often ended up with the 'Tap' stroke instead of the 'Swipe' stroke.
