I have to skip this week's session as my nephew is arriving from Malaysia to study here tomorrow.

Power play and footwork are things I want to learn. Hope can still do it next time.

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 12-Feb-2012 (A Short Report)

We welcomed 2 new trainees;
* Keven-W
* Bob-W
Hope that they have enjoyed training with us.

At this CCC CATS, we worked on the Power Play, Chasse Steps and the Scissor Jump.

Some comments:
* The Power Play is used when you play many strokes hard and fast. This means that you need to study the trajectories of your shots in order not to get the shuttlecock landing outside the court.
* The adjustment of the various "Maxima" of your trajectories (to land the shuttlecock inside the 'Back Tram-Lines') will need to be worked on in future sessions.
* The Chasse Steps are used to keep your chest (when moving) facing the same direction as you prepare to make your stroke.
* The Scissor Jump is for you to reach the shuttlecock earlier and higher. Check if you have rotated your trunk 180 degrees while up in the air performing your power strokes (Clear and Smash).
* For the Clear and the Smash, the longer the follow-though, the better is the precision.
* Grip the handle of the racket not too tight. If your racket slips off your hand, then it's time to change the over-grip of your racket handle.
* etc, etc, ......

* Brendan-L is jumping well although limited by injury.
* Theo-D requires to clear with flatter trajectories.
* Timothy-T needs to rotate trunk 180 degrees while up in the air performing the Clear.
* Siru-Z has increased greatly in her power Clears.
* Lisa-L needs to be more flexible with her trunk rotation.
* KeChong-K needs to move faster in his backwards Chasse Steps.
* Keven-W needs to adjust the length of Clears with more practice.
* Bob-W requires to clear with flatter trajectories.

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 19-Feb-2012 (A Short Report)

We welcomed 1 new trainee;
* Sylvester-T (From GGS)
Hope that he has enjoyed training with us.

At this CCC CATS, we worked on the Dropshot Drill and the Smash Drill.

Some comments:
* Found an apology from Siru-Z saying that she has an English class to attend which was scheduled at last moment.
* Note that the use of the drills is to improve on your Footwork and your Stroke Technique.
* Concentrate on the points of the Stroke Technique being taught and comments made.
* Remember that Lift and Flick are not the same, although you could produce the same Shot trajectory. There will be different times when only one of them is useful (as I have demonstrated).
* Know the difference between the Stroke Technique of the Dropshot and the Slow Smash.
* Know the difference between the Smash and the Kill.
* The preparation to return a shot is different for various strokes. Early preparation is required.
* The Lift requires a long follow-through.
* The Dropshot requires no follow-through, but a "Tap".
* The Netplay (Bounce) is all about the control of Grip, Shining of the rackethead, "Maxima" and Footwork.
* The Smash requires steepness through the "GAP", not power.
* The Block is all about the control of Tap, Shining of the rackethead, "Maxima" and Footwork.
* Know the difference in the location of the Point of Impact between the Dropshot and the Smash.
