Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 16-Dec-2012 (A Short Report)

Sorry that I have completely forgotten to do this report. Only at last night's Wednesday CCC Social Sessions (while talking to Timothy-T), I realised that I have missed this report.

So, here is the report:

We welcomed Jennifer-F attending her first session.

Don't know what happened to Thanh-M who didn't turn up.

At this session, we worked on our Overhead Clear (involving the Punch Clear or the Attacking Clear).

Some comments:
1. Remember to Clear to the Back Tram-Lines (your goal/target area) from your own Back Tram-Lines, you will need to hit the shuttlecock at maximum power.
2. Realise that we only need to hit the shuttlecock higher than our opponent's highest reach. Many of us are hitting our "maxima" point too high, and therefore we are not making our shots into their Back Tram-Lines.
3. Better timing to hit the shuttlecock properly requires better preparation. Here, we need to work on good habits, like our racket-head's positions and our base positions (We shall work on more drills so that we can acquire better 'Good Habits').

Some comments on trainees:
1. Timothy-T has the power, but is still clearing too high.
2. Brendan-L and Markus-H need more precision to hit the target (the problem is because of poor follow-through).
3. Daisy-L, Fay-Y and Jennifer-F need more wrist action when hitting the shuttlecock. We shall work more on this in later drills.

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 23-Dec-2012 (A Short Report)

Brendan-L sms'ed that he was too tired because of house-moving. Hope to see Brendan on Wednesday 26-Dec-2012 at our Social Games Session. But please book in.

At our CATS on a hot day (38°C), we worked on softer strokes/shots, namely;
* Chapter 10: Netplay – (Bounce/Tumble/Spin)
* Chapter 11: Netplay – (Tap/Swipe)

Some comments:
1. Remember that for the Bounce/Tumble/Spin, it is at eye-level where you get the best position to see how you make contact with the cork, off-centred or not.
2. It is contacting the cork off-centred where you are able to create the Tumble/Spin.
3. Remember that for the Tap/Swipe, you are to beat your opponent net-player. Do not hit the shuttlecock too hard. We do not want his/her partner to be able to reach the shuttlecock.
4. etc, etc, etc, ......

Some comments on trainees:
1. Timothy-T has the power/strength; but will need to learn how to soften the Tap/Swipe. Many shots are still reaching the back player.
2. Markus-H has learnt to net-play well - the "maxima" are getting better and better.
3. Daisy-L is doing the Bounce well; but needs more time to learn the Tumble/Spin (how to meet the cork off-centred).
4. Chong-C needs to change her bad habit (carrying her racket-head too low at 'ready' position). At net-play, she is unable to meet the shuttlecock early (and therefore is always too late to play an effective net shot).
5. etc, etc, etc, ......

Fay-Y and Jennifer-F said that they are going to New Zealand. Markus-H and Daisy-L said that they are going to Queensland. Anyway, I shall still post out our next Booking List below (for Sunday 30-Dec-2012).

We might need to cancel our next CATS if more trainees are going away on holidays. Keep in touch with this thread for latest news.
