Yesterday, Thursday 14-Feb-2013, it was also a rather warm day while I was coaching at Caulfield Grammar School. Students kept refilling their drinking bottles for drinks, to keep rehydrated (to replenish their body fluids).

May I remind that our CCC CATS trainees to not to forget to brink your water bottles for our coming session on this warm/hot CCC CATS on Sunday 17-Feb-2013.

Here is a short report for our Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 17-Feb-2013.

We welcome sushmanemani (new BCer) attending her first CCC CATS. Hope that she has enjoyed herself.

It's also great that we have Tracy-T and Chong-S back again.

At this CATS, we went through the topic on Low Service for Doubles.

Points to remember;

* Know the Laws of Badminton governing 'Service' that I have explained. It's best to know/understand why BWF has made those laws - If you don't, let us start a conversation to explain it.

Main points:
(1) Doing the Low Service is better than the High Service.
(2) For the Low Service, the Backhand Service is better than the Forehand Service. WHY? Time Factor is the main reason.
(3) The length/distance between the 'Point of Impact' and your thumb control is best to be shortened for better feel.
(4) Pushing the shuttlecock is more accurate (with more control) than hitting the shuttlecock.
(5) 'Time Factor' is an important factor (allowing your receiver and you and your partner to play the next shot).
(6) Directing your Service to just before the the Service Line (than to the Service Line) is better. WHY? It causes hesitation for the receiver.
(7) Directing your Service to the Middle-T is better - It continues with you and your partner to be the the middle of the 'return-angle' when the return is made.
(8) Flick Service is used only as an element of surprise.
(9) etc, etc, ......

Perhaps for next week, we shall do the topic on DAB. Tell me what you CCCers think.

Hi trainees,

What a relief that we have a cooler day today (Tue 19-Feb-2013); Maximum of 21°C.

It looks like Sunday 24-Feb-2013 is going to be a rather warm day. The forecast says it's going to be around 32°C.

We shall conduct a lesson for practising our Dabbing. The 'DAB' is best used in higher-quality Doubles matches.

Currently, only Timothy-T employs this stroke with some good results; While others are doing the Lift, Smash and Block most of the time (like playing in Singles games/matches).

We shall practise this 'DAB' stroke, so that you can improve to play higher-quality Doubles games.

(2) Our 2013 Melbourne Grand Prix is coming soon.

MSAC will be closed from Tuesday 12-Mar-2013 and will be available for use again on Tuesday 19-Mar-2013.

At the times when MSAC is closed, CCC could organise to train at other venues. Suggestions are opened for CCCers to make.
