Please be informed that for our CCC CATS on Sunday 04-Sep-2011, we shall be training at our usual time: from 10:00am to 12:00noon, and on our usual court: Court No.4 (in the Badminton Hall).

Do always check this info thread regularly. This is because there are so many events happening at MSAC; that we can receive late changes to our CCC CATS Program at the very last moment.

There is a suggestion from helmut telling me that it's best for me to suggest which chapter/topic to teach based on what I find is lacking amongst our trainees.

someone was asking me about smashing technique... I recently posted this video to my social badminton group..


Its in mandarin (no subtitles) but you can get the gist of what he is trying to convey just by watching the video...

basically it comes down to timing and technique... His technique is the traditional method whereby the back is arched backwards and he snaps his body forward when he hits it, hitting the shuttle close to the point where he has the most generated power/inertia...

Thanks for the video KeChong. Those strokes are the 'Kills' that we have been talking about.

Perhaps we shall do a chapter of the 'Kill' this coming Sunday (04-Sep-2011).

Sunday CCC CATS at MSAC on 04-Sep-2011 (A Short Report)

At this CCC CATS, we worked on the 'Smash'.

I think everyone understand that the essential movement when playing the Smash is to use/add up ALL the joints in our body to generate more power into the shuttlecock. Most of the turning of the joints are quite easy and natural, except for the one for the 'elbow turning'. Trainees will need more practice for this one.

Some comments;
* Helmut-H and Wendy are having good concentration on hitting the shuttlecock into the Gap.
* Jin Hooi-T's Smash stroke needs to go steeper (10:30 point of impact).
* KeChong-K and Timothy-T will need to practise more on their 'Footwork' (Smash the shuttlecock while moving forward, not while moving backward).

Lunch after our session was held at Pho Hung Vuong 2, a Vietnamese restaurant in Richmond North.

I am full time student in Melbourne and Interested in becoming a member for coaching. Shall I just turn up at the coaching class on Sundays and bring along the membership form? Or I have to become a member first?

Lastly, do I need to book for the coaching classes?

Yes, fill in our CCC membership form and come.

Regarding to book or not to book; please inform us whenever you are able to to attend. Why? It's because when we have more trainees attending, we need to book more courts.
