Hey all,

I would like to come to this session but unfortunately I've injured myself the other day. So, I am afraid I'll have to give it a miss and see you all the next time when the session is up again after the Grand Prix!

Hey Chris,

Not to worry. It's not the doing of anybody or CCC, it's my own fault. Hahaha. I was in the mood last week; and three consecutive days of badminton probably isn't such a good idea, especially when you have improper footwork (landing on the toes instead of heels). That contributed to a toe nail injury, which it is feeling better already. However, I just figured I'll give it an extra one to two weeks to fully recover. Hence, I'm missing this week. Just a little sad that I went from three consecutive days of badminton to none this week.

Anyway, this minor injury made me realized the importance of proper footwork, so all good.

It's good that your injury isn't that bad.

In your next session, do mention about your injury and I shall give more info about 'Injury Prevention'.

Hi CCC CATS trainees,

Hope that some of you managed to watch the Finals matches of the 2012 All England played last night.

I watched only the first two (Womens Singles and Mixed Doubles). During the 3rd match (Womens Doubles), I was so tired that I fell asleep.

At our coaching session yesterday, we welcomed 1 new trainee;
* Kate-O (Africa's friend)
Hope that she has enjoyed training with us.

At the CCC CATS, we worked on Footwork.

Some comments:
* Nadeem-A, Brendan-L, Timothy-T, Gerardo-M and KeChong-K are doing well.
* Theo-D, Sylvester-T and Kate-O need to have more practice.

Here is a quiz (same as posted like last week). See who can remember what was taught.

This quiz should trigger your memory of some of the important points;

1. How do we make sure that our left feet move first?
2. How is our breathing done as we move?
3. To where are our toes pointing as we move forward (and why)?
4. How far from the Service Line is our base (when receiving Service)?
5. How far from the Service Line is our base (during a rally)?
6. When receiving Service, which foot is our weight on?
7. What is the rough time ratio; Forward-vs-Backward?
8. To what is our counting related to?
9. What is meant by 'chasing the shuttle'?
10. Where is the best place to stand when receiving the High Service/Lift for our Drop Drill?

I shall stop here; You could think of other many important points that were taught, but not included in the above.

Remember the Dropshot Drill Count:
1-L/B-2, 1-N/B-2, 1-2-3-4/D-2-3-4
(and with breathing included, counting * as breathing in:
1-L/*-*, 1-N/*-*, 1-2-*-*/D-2-*-*
which could be practised at home with you palm/fore-finger/thumb for shining).

It's unusual that on a Sunday morning that I am not coaching at Badminton.

Yes, after having conducting coaching at MSAC on every Sunday morning for more than 10 years, it's always the Melbourne Grand Prix that give me a break.

I need to think of a place to play Badminton today.

It was great to play with many Tangkas Jakarta Badminton Club players there.
