IF you are going to tell people to search through archives before asking a question THEN LET THEM HAVE ACCESS TO THE SEARCH FEATURE, I for one cannot be bothered searching after i've been forced to register when i can just post. PLEASE be intelligent with forum design here people, there is no reason to hide the search feature UNLESS U WANT TO INVITE PEOPLE TO SPAM.
Actualy, you really need to use a firm tone about these things or your message just won't get through to them and they'll never learn.
You can look at it from this perspective... As a member (registration is FREE), you are allowed to use the various services available in the forum.. I've been to many forums that require registration first before even allowing a user to read a thread. And yes i've been a member that has on occasion asked a user to run a "search" first for questions that have been repeated over and over and over again... Many others often post the link for the search results too. I guess you're a little short on patience... That's too bad.
The thing is, if you did 'just post' you would probably be told to use the search feature by other users anyway! The people who run the site run it the way they think best. You may well disagree but you should do so a bit more politely. BC isn't like public transport where you have no other choice but to use the facility. Anyway, welcome to BC.
I think 99% people here can be considered as adult and mature because they understand the problems admin having to make sure the forum up and running smoothly. Good Job admin....keep up the good work...hahahahah
Could someone please just give me a reason for not allowing non-registered users to use the search feature? My post may not have been written very politly, and i may have been the first to mention this issue, but that doesn't stop my point from being true. I personally feel that making people register to do a search is just creating an unneccecary nuisance for these people, but if you disagree, then please explain to me why. Just giving feedback about the site in the feedback section, i'm not a troll just trying to be helpful, although i can see how my first post would have been seen as rude, sorry .
This is my personal opinion----> This depends entirely to the webmaster/admin....It does have pro n cons but still in this situation I dont think that it is a big problem for someone to register in order to get the capability to doing "search". For me as long as its free...Ill follow the rules...ahaks.....
