    Default Tournament Rankings

I like to know how other ranks the importance of each tournaments. Yes, i had said a win is a win and technically it shouldn't matter u won it from OC or a lower star open. However, because of prestige, prizes, sponsorship, the winning record of significant tournaments still apply to the general population. How do u see the order of significant of these tournaments, and i don't mean just going by the number of stars. Here is my first pass.

    1. olympic game
    2. WC
    3. Asian Games, All England, TC/UC
    4. Indo Open, china open, sudirman cup, Dan. O, JPO, MAL Open
    5. KO, HKO, Aust. O, US open, swiss open, dutch open, german open, SG open, commonwealth, china masters, European championship
    6. MVP cup

hmm, IMO, all the Opens, esp. the list on #4 & #5, are basically the same..The only difference is the prize monies being offered, that's the main difference. Imagine if all the Opens(esp. in those 2 groups) are being offered at a starting prize monies of $250,000. That will be an equivalent of 5* or 6*, if i'm not mistaken.

As for the 1st three on the list, i think they are more to do with prestige/history. Personally, I would even bump up the Sudirman Cup to be in the same group as #3...
If you have European Championship, then how abt Asian Championships(ABC) or SEA Games??..

..hmm, as a matter of fact, i read somewhere that the U.S. Open *used* to offer prize money of up to $250,000 or $300,000 abt 8-10 yrs. ago.(if i'm not mistaken) Yup, can you imagine that??..
Let me scour as I have the article on that and i'll scan it for you guys to read, later today..

    Undisputable top tournaments:
    1. Olympics
    2. World Champs
    3. Thomas and Uber Cups

    The usual ones:
    4. all the Opens (ranked according to prize money, except All-England which is regarded as one of the important Opens irregardless of its prize money)
    5. Sudirman Cup ranked only slightly lower than All-England

    The others:
    6. Asian Games - the premier Asian event
    7. European Champs - lack of quality
    8. Asian Champs - a joke, no one really takes it seriously
    9. Commonwealth Games - lack of quality

...before i go to bed, hope you guys can read the small prints(taken from the 2006 U.S. Open Tournament booklet)...BTW, sorry, the highest prize money was actually $200,000 NOT $250,000...Anyways, it's still quite a lot though, IMO, considering it was 10 yrs. ago..
