Taufik can breathe easy now and look foward to Asian Games in Doha. After going thru some discussion, IBF have reached a decision by deducting Taufik's Ranking points and consolation prize money that he got at Hong Kong Open earlier this year.
This happened after Taufik walk-out during a game because of some bad calls when he was playing LinDan of China.

    Decision for Taufik

    24 September 2006

    http://www.internationalbadminton.org

The IBF Disciplinary Committee made its decision about Taufik Hidayat's conduct at the recent Yonex/Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2006.

At a press conference held during the finals of the QI-IBF World Championships 2006, IBF Chair of Events, Paisan Rangsikitpho told the media that Taufik Hidayat will not receive any match bans for his conduct at the Yonex/Sunrise Hong Kong Open 2006.

Taufik of Indonesia, walked out early in his quarterfinal match against Lin Dan because of a controversial line call.

His case was reviewed by a Disciplinary Committee and it was decided that Taufik will not be awarded his World Ranking Points or his prize money for that event. That would mean that Taufik would lose 2970 ranking points and USD2500.00.

"Taufik was very apologetic and understands that he cannot do this again. The punishment will definitely be more severe if he violates the players' Code of Conduct again," said Paisan.

This is good news. I am not a proponent of Taufik walking out out of the HK Open; but, when Taufik steps on the court and just plays, he's good for badminton. He's an incredible player and just beautiful to watch. :)

lol...What is US$2500 to him anyway.
Don't think he will be bother with the ranking point either as he is not bother to be world number 1 again.

Anyway, I am glad with the final decision by IBF.
    It sound fair and square.
If a ban, then I think many people will not be happy about it.

What if Taufik refuses to give back his US$2500 prize money? That would be interesting.

I think they NEED to stomp on that IMO irrespective of who it is. Some kids in the nationals juniors for Oz walked out of a presentation and they were barred from selection for a hefty period a few years back, they didn't do it again....

I think there needs to be a certain chivalry to players - it all evens out and you have to accept that the linejudge is just human. They all take it when it goes their way, after all.

I wish for the good old days where the player deliberately hit the shuttle out if the line judge call the last shot out when it is actually in, in his favor.

Badminton afterall, is a gentleman sport.

i think likely taufik will not need to fork out 2500$, as the pbsi will do it for him. Pbsi will even bend over for taufik.

This means that we will have one more great player playing good badminton ! It would be a shame if he was to be banned. He might have quit the game to respond to the ban slapped on him. Now, I think he will set his sights on the Asian Games gold medal and the AE title.
