    Hi,

Did anyone tried the Carlton nanolite powerblade 9900 and 9500, whats your impressions. Can someone point me to any reviews or pics. These racquets are compared to which yonex counterparts?

    cheers

i've... never heard of these before, nor did my search bear any fruit.

can anyone shed some light on these two new racquets?
they sound very uncharacteristic of carlton's nomenclature, but i'm willing to bet they're going to try anything to regain some ground in the equipment world...

I would say they are compared to the Yonex Nano series of racquets as far as material goes. I didn't even know they had this range in Carlton yet, I must have a look because my first ever racquet was a Carlton.

There you go. Sorry, the pic is not clear. That's the pb9900. 85g, stiff, and head-heavy according to the specs. Didn't get to try the 9500.

The 9900 costs about US$180. I expect the price to go down soon; the salesman was willing to throw-in a US$60 Carlton bag free.

The 9900 is the stiffest in the range. I think the 9500 is the "nanolite" at 82g.

Older carltons are real bargains now. The powerblade tour (orange color) now sells for only US$40.

I can't give a definitive review though, i just gave it a few whacks. Easy to handle, seemed head-light to me (i use a cab30), decent power.

Dude, I have never seen that racket before, are you sure it is not a fake? I mean there is no market for fake Carlton's but colour, design scheme, is soo not Carlton! I mean, none of the British sites have these "new" rackets.

Carlton Powerblade Tour is widely available here in Manila. Try Toby's Sports and Chris Sports (lots of branches) or you can go directly to Dunlop-Slazenger Showroom in Pasong Tamo Extension in Makati City or ProHouse Sports Outlet in Waltermart Mall in Pasong Tamo St., Makati (across Don Bosco School).

With regards to Carlton Powerblade Nano 9900 and 9500, I really wanted to try these 2 new models but I'm still financially tied up to buy new rackets. At first glance, it loks like RSL 4900. According to the specs, it is head heavy (290mm balance point), stiff flex, weights 85 grams for the 9900 and 82/83 grams for the 9500, Hi-modulus graphite racket with nano resin, slim shaft with EPS tha will suppose to give you whip-like racket swing (very similar construction to my RSL 4900).

Sealman, RSLs are quite cheap in Manila. Do check them out when you go to Toby's.

Thanks for the pics, but seriously, how come there is no info on Centralsports.co.uk? Carlton comes out with a new line, and there is no information at all! It is as if nothing has happened. I am going to email carlton.

I do find rackets here expensive.

    fyi, US$1=PhP50.20

Stores here usually resort to holding sales at 30% off (still expensive) coupled with generous installment plans on credit card.

I haven't tried Wilson racquets but my wife bought a Carlton Powerblade Elite (she got it for the color) a while back. It cost about US$120 with discount. We got it on 0% 18 month installment plan.

My verdict: very much worth it. I find it's at par with Yonex's best.

The 4900 is on sale for about P3,500. The 6900 ans 6800 are selling for less than P4,000 .... I think.

Hi pumpkin, off topic... touch wood but what if you break the racquet within 18 months? Any refunds? I wish they have this instalment scheme in Singapore.

You're on the hook for the whole installment period, it's usually a joint promo with the card companies.

On the other hand, i've heard Carlton has a generous warranty program. I know from experience that Mizuno will readily replace broken rackets.
