Nothing much can be done if players get hurt while training, or got sick etc. That's just luck. As for scheduling tournaments before the WC, it is quite usual for warm-up tournaments to be organised before big events, isn't it? I guess whether one gets injured or not is down to luck.
Yeah that's true But why they didn't already give the players money, it's the most important tournament of the year
And then we'll see all the really good players dropping in rankings. Yea, you can't really weave a tournament around injuries as they're unexpected. It was just an unlucky streak last year perhaps.
making the WC an annual affair makes it lose its prestige, and when you couple loss of prestige with no prize money, there just isn't any incentive to drive players to participate.
