Explain why TH lost?
Any answer except Chen Hong is better than him. My explaination is his back injury has not been fully recovered yet, thus his form was only at 70%...

answer other than CH is better than TH?!! are we suppose to think up reasons so we can make ourselves feel better?
i've noticed this blind devotion to TH from alot of members here.. if TH loses its ALWAYS TH was not 100% for woteva reason.. no credit every goes to the opponent who beats him.. frankly its ridiculous and i'm prety sure it annoys the hell out of fans who want discuss badminton objectively and simply appreciate gud badminton wen they see it

In the injury dept., every players have some kind of old injury. If u r good enough to go play, u r good enough to play to win, not playing to injure the old injury more or a free vacation in madrid. He is not a freshmen pro, taufik don't need to play to gain international tournament experience.

Top 10 reasons why Taufik lost:
10) Poor clothing colour coordination ruined his mood
9) Bus driver took tourist route to stadium
8) Wifey called at 3 am last night to remind him to pick up some souvenirs for Daddy
7) Err... it's PBSI's fault, yeah that's right
6) LCW and LD in the stands making faces at him
5) Put on left shoe on right foor and right shoe on left
4) Racket string tension 0.00000001 lb off
3) Hey, where are the cheerleaders?
2) Too many dang fans making excuses for him
And the #1 reason why Taufik lost....
1) Chen Hong actually played better! (DUH, go figure )

I don't think injury is the reason. He just lacks training and therefore not fit enough.
CH is definitely better than Taufik today, although overall Taufik is a better player. I would say a 95% CH beated a 80% Taufik today. That's perfectly normal. Though I had hoped Taufik to use the game against CH to recover to 90% so that he will be able to beat Gade.
It's funny. Taufik lost often before and few cared. Back then he is just a talented boy. But after his great performance in 04/05 he suddenly became something like a semi-god and his fans can hardly accept him being beaten...

here is what Zhao Jinhua said about the Taufik / Chen Hong match. if Zhao says so, we should all bow and listen... (pardon my poor translation)
1st game, Taufik has the edge, baseline smashes are effective, CH needs a lot of effort to return them.
2nd/3rd game CH plays out his specialty, rear court smashes are effective, this is the only advantage CH has over TH, and CH used it well.
Taufik lost due to two reasons:
1) lack in speed, he has the advantage at the net, but not as much as before.
2) stamina, he managed to keep the offensive in the first game, but the power deteriorated, and the lack of stamina also ate into his court coverage speed.

This thread looks like collecting excuses for Taufik. then madbad did fabulous job ! Well done
Chibe_k just doesn't understand and doesn't accept that Taufik could lose when he has the same condition as his opponent, such as same percentage of effort, same level of injury.
Well, technically, there are some reasons. I'm not an expert, but I found the experts even have opposite opinions, even for the same match.
Former super star, Zhao JianHua, watched the whole match, he pointed out that Taufik is better at net, while Chen Hong has more powerful smash than Taufik, and Chen Hong's winning today came from his fully exploiting his smash ability.
Well, what Chen Hong and his coach said were just opposite. All of them (Zhao Jianhua, Chen Hong and his coach) agree that Chen Hong is always better than Taufik in smashing attack, but in most previous matches, Chen Hong always wanted to fully use his attack to defeat Taufik, and was afraid of Taufik's net skill, so avoided net playing. But that tactics never works. Today, Chen did the same in the first game as he did before, so he lost his 1st game. But in the 1st set, Chen Hong found out Taufik's net skill was not as good as himself. So in the 2nd and 3rd game, he began to play net. And also insisted playing short returns near net, so he won. He did much better than Taufik in both smash winners and net winners, but committed more unforced errors. That the reason he won, and won narrowly.

I think Zhao Jianhua is correct is pointing out Taufik's stamina problem. Taufik's smashes are very effective in the first game, but then they became less powerful and CH got more and more comfortable returning them.
However I really dont agree that CH has better smashes. Anyway, talking about racket skill, CH is the only one in team China that can match Taufik. He lost before just because Taufik is smarter.
