The first tournament had a 300 km/h logo (nice even number) as kind of a fun thingee, in which later, I decided to have the speed represent the annual tournament.

This year is the fourth annual, therefore 304 km/hr.

    Cheers!

In the past years, to make the draw fair & un-bias (especially when I am competing), I use a system of seeding only the top teams.

Then I put the remaining teams into groups based on abilities (groups BCD).

Each team will then randomly draw for a spot within their own group seeding.

In the tournament, seeded teams play against the D-grp, and the B's against the C's.

    Example

    Seed-1 vs D2
    Seed-2 vs D1
    B1 vs C2
    B2 vs C1

All this is to be done on the day of and at the check-in for the tournament!

    Cheers!

    How did it go?

Wish I could have made it, but alas house repairs kept me here.

What day is today?... *rubbing my eyes*

With only 1.5 hrs of sleep the nite before the tournament, a fun nite of dinner and plates breaking OOPA! ...after 16 hours of sleep, waking-up, rushing to a late afternoon business meeting, I am finally able to sit-back and post some results.

    The final results are:

    A-Flight S.Huang / R.Vu def. B.Chin / T.Nguyen
    B-Flight M.Chung / N.Sasaki def. C.Ng / I.Wou
    C-Flight P.Lu / W.Wong def. S.Ahmed / J.Hussain
    D-Flight G.Whang / T.Lee def. J.Zhou / K.Chan (by default)

CONGRATULATIONS to this year's winners and runners-up!

The longest match was 57 minutes in the semi-finals between last year's A-Champions with this year's A-Champions, what a slug-fest!

Except for some minor glitches at the beginning with 3 players not showing up, one team having never played rally-point scoring before, and some mis-understanding of the drop-flight system, over-all it went quite well.

I would like to say "Thank You" to this year's sponsors:

    Collingwood Neighbourhood House
    Black Knight (Canada)
    YUMO Badminton Centre
    Bamboo Cafe
    Roman Ristorante

for all the wonderful door-prizes along with additional prizes for the finalists of all four flights.

Additionally, a big thanks to all the players who competed & "brought food" and their own cheer-leading squads (like Badrad and his entourage of empty stomaches to clean-out the food tables j/k) to make this event a great success!

    Cheers!

A well run tourney by our own BMS again. I cannot speak for all, but I had a great time at the tourney and the dinner that followed was even more enjoyable. Thank you C & S for inviting us to the dinner.
Right now I am paying the price for it, nursing a sore back , but will probably do it all over again next year.
To R.L. who brought that fantastic dish, the award for the best dish was appropriate. Thanks Rick.
Last but not least, thanks to BMS, and we shall see all the regulars again on Sunday.

    Cheers

Excellent work, B-M-S. I share BTC2004's sentiment in that the tourney is getting better and bigger. Also I am very glad to see some familiar faces again. BTW, anybody who knows BTC2004 should disregard what he said about being old. He certainly didn't move like he's a day older than 30 in this tournament!

My knee is in the same boat as BTC2004's back, but I think for next year, I will have "categories" for the players! I will have...

    (1) Players with 5 injuries or more
    (2) minimum of 2 injuries
    (3) and NO injuries

A doctor's note or surgery scars are needed as proof!

    Cheers!

Hey, how about categories for out of shape players? You can class people by their heart rate after having them run around the court 5 times.

Now it starts to get too complicated.

You will need to create a scatter-chart based on

    (1) heart-rate, vs
    (2) time to run 5 laps, vs
    (3) body mass index, vs
    (4) how many ounces of beer chugged in 60 seconds

    just too many variables!

    Cheers!

Never mind, I can't even finish the 5 laps...
