i've got one as well! it's a very good zoom lens.
from your pictures, it seems that ais 80-200mm f/4 had produced an image with the least sharpness when comparing to others.
in my mind, it should be able to beat a modern nikon af zoom very easily! but it looks like i was wrong!

dont panic; it could be out of focus... :-)

it is quite difficult for me to focus through the little window (the viewfinder) and with my old man sight. and on that day, the wind is blowing quite strong. I was taken the picture some ten ft. away or so from the object, and on a mini tripod.

I thought I will take another shot when the day is more calm.

the focus seems fall in front of the yellow rose rather on the purple lily.
