Hey, I went there last August. Those sand dunes were impressive. Pity that day there was some fire polluting the atmosphere with its smoke.

I particularly liked the reflection in the eye of the last one. One of those dark blobs should be me, I was only about 3 feet away from the bird. (that was with the kit 18-55 that comes with the D40, the 300mm isn't mine, I borrowed it)

I am guessing u'd set your camera to aperture priority mode right Neil? Coz both of the bird pictures were shot at f/7.1
The third one looks good but if you take a closer look. u may notice that it was a very little bit of blur on it's head. From your shooting information I know it was shot at 1/125 sec but that wasn't safe enough for capturing animal pictures.
U may have heard about "safety shutter speed". That is 1/125 for a 105mm or 1/250 for a 200mm lens etc etc (old school stuff.).....
For shooting animals, I guess we need at least one stop faster than that principle. Sometimes may be even more.Last edited by red00ecstrat; 04-24-2007 at 03:05 AM.

Here's one of my daughter. There was this amazing activity play area. There is a rail above her with a seat hanging from it. This seat runs slides down the rail throwing the child outwards on the seat. So much fun to be a kid!
